Cuffley Camp Outdoor Centre

Rules and Information for visiting pupils

·  All Cuffley Camp Outdoor Centre staff wear identification badges with their names on them and blue & green uniforms.

·  Your school has its own village campsite, it is private to your school and you should not go into another school’s site

·  You must always ask permission to leave your village site or activity area and must be with a friend when walking around the site. ‘An adult must know where you are at all times’

·  You must be very careful when coming up to the main buildings, there is only one road coming into the campsite - look out for vehicles and be alert.

·
When walking along the tracks if the landrover or other vehicles, including mountain bikes, come towards you, move to the side of the track

·  In an emergency find an adult wearing a yellow Cuffley Camp Outdoor Centre badge or go to the office

·  For your own safety and the protection of the tents - do not play ball games in your campsite or run around the tents/cabins

·
Your group leader will probably light a campfire during your stay. Fires can be dangerous so be very sensible around the campfire area and cooking area – do not sit too close to the fire or walk across the campfire area

·  Do not go into the activity areas unless you are with a member of Cuffley Staff – these areas are strictly out of bounds - mini assault course/ problem solving area/pond/trampoline area

·  Do not climb the trees unless you have been given permission by your teacher/group leader

·  Remember the countryside code – respect the animals and their homes, don’t drop litter and make sure you keep your sweets in a tin inside your luggage away from the squirrels!

·  Each village site has recycling bins for glass, aluminium and paper. Please sort your rubbish before throwing it away, and recycle anything that can be.

·  Remember there are other groups using the site, so leave the toilets and showers, as you would like to find them. Put paper towels into the bins provided. Do not leave your clothes or other belongings at the showers. When using the showers leave your shoes outside in the large metal containers provided

·  At meal times come up to the dining room and line up outside, when all of your group has arrived you will be asked to go in to collect your meal. You do not need to bring your own plates to the dining room. You will have the same tables throughout your stay, with your village name on it. At the end of the meal some people will be asked to stay behind and clear and wipe the tables ready for your next meal.

·  If you are asked to collect packed lunches, go to the depot area outside the dining room and your lunch should be in a red box with your village name on it. If you are not sure which one to take, go to the kitchen door and ask a member of staff for help. You can use a metal trolley with your village name on it to transport your food.

·  You may collect any dead wood from around the campsite, but do not break or damage the trees. Be very careful when collecting wood from the main wood piles ( by the field and by Willows campsite), do not climb on top of the pallets
