AGM
Committee Selection Meeting
11th April 2012
Present:
Alan Kendrick [AK], Wendy Lewis [WL], Brian Robinson [BR] {Supporting Treasurer / trip organiser}, Janet Burtonwood [JBw], Graham Ryder [GR], David Lewis [DL], Andrew Shacklady [AS], Jean Atherton [JA] and Heather Lomas [HL] {visiting support worker}.

Opening:
AK opened the meeting and disclosed that the agenda was to select committee roles and nothing more, the strategy meetings as per usual will commence from next month onwards. AK discussed the hard work and dedication of previous members and how important it is to build from these foundations which have worked so well over the years and although members of the committee in certain positions have the opportunity to be advised and shadowed in their first few weeks it is up to them to take on board and work at the best rate and method that suits them. WL suggested that they learn the essentials from experienced members first before initiating any changes which of course should be discussed first.
Elections:
AK asked members to put themselves forward for positions, the results were:
Chairperson - Wendy Lewis 2nd by JBw and the vote was unanimous
Treasurer - Janet Burtonwood
Secretary - A proposal was placed for a non-committee member to take this position and we are awaiting a response from Vikki Jones, Vikki will of course be governed by the confidentiality policy and will not be able to decision make or vote on any matters.
Group Phone - Alan Kendrick
Catering manager - Barbara McClean
Newsletter & website - Andrew Shacklady
Trips organiser / key holder/ H&S officer - David Lewis
Committee member - Jean Atherton
Committee member - Graham Ryder
Committee member - James Jones
WL thanked everyone for their commitment and asked AK to continue until the close of meeting.
AOB:
AK has declared a wish to continue organising the young carer’s weekends, this was agreed but DL must be kept informed of the progress to enable him to organise transport etc.
AK closed the meeting and expressed his thanks to the new committee for stepping forward to keep the group running to provide respite care and meet the needs of carers within the borough.
