Purpose

This task requires you to undertake a community application activity that applies learning from the selected Stage 2 Subject to a community context.

Documentation of the planning, progress, knowledge acquired and selection of information during the community application activity can take a variety of forms (e.g. an interview, a reflection, a blog, a diary). After completing your community application activity you are required to complete a report and reflection for assessment.

  • How is this information going to help your “community”?
  • What did you produce to help your community?

Application and Reflection

The specific features are as follows:

  • How did the student apply their knowledge and skills?
  • How did the student pose questions, identify relevant information and come up with clear ideas and understandings?
  • Did the student create something that the community could easily use and get something out of?

Part 1: Report on the Community Application Activity

You need to provide evidence of

  1. planning: brainstorming, research prompts
  2. What is your community?
  3. what are your trying to find out?
  4. How are you planning to find this out?
  5. organising: what did you do, what did your research tell you.
  6. How did you find it out?
  7. What did you find out?
  8. decision making: selection of appropriate information
  9. What is your conclusion about what you found out?
  10. What could you do to help the community from what you found out?

Part 2: Reflection on Community Application Activity

Reflect on success of the community application activity, can be

  1. Learnings
  2. What have you learnt through this process? Not just the fact but also how has your opinion formed/changed
  3. Strengths
  4. Reflecting on the process what are your strengths doing a project like this?
  5. areas for improvement
  6. Reflecting on the process what do you think you could improve doing a process like this?
  7. how activity might be used in or by the community
  8. How might your findings help the community and how could you get this to the community?
