OFFICIALS
- A central umpire is being provided for all cricket
- Schools must supply their own
- Competent square leg umpire (Can be a 12th man, coach or player from the batting team)
- Competent scorer (Can be a 12th man, coach or players from the batting team)
MATCH FORMAT (Adapted from SSV Rules)
- Cricket competitions will be played as 15/15 knock out competition, with the winner of each match playing off in a final.
- In each match the 1st batting team will bat for 60 minutes.
- If the first batting team is dismissed, the second batting team will receive a maximum of 15 overs.
- Bowlers may bowl a maximum of 3 overs.
- Cricket competitions will be played as a 12/12 cricket round robin.
- In each match the 1st batting team will bat for 45 minutes.
- If the first batting team is dismissed, the second batting team will receive a maximum of 12 overs.
- Bowlers may bowl a maximum of 2 overs.
- The fielding team only changes ends after each block of 5 overs ORalternatively bowl all overs from one end (Convenors decision). The batsmen change ends instead.
- The number of overs bowled to the first team batting must be bowled to the second batting team. Unless batting team is dismissed (see above ruling)
- Once the runs have been made the game will cease.
- The team making the greater number of runs, regardless of wickets lost, shall be the winner.
- Should teams tie on runs, the team that has lost the least number of wickets is declared the winner. If still equal, the team hitting the greater number of 6’s will be the winner. If still tied, the team hitting the greater number of 4’s will be the winner.
- Note (Convenors decision): To further assist in increasing the pace of the game, can also opt to have the next batsman stand at square leg in full equipment.
- 3-WAY TIE. In the event that the 3 teams all finish on 1 win each, refer to the ‘Quotient for 3 way tie’ document.
EQUIPMENT
- Leather Match Ball (New)
- Senior, Inter and Yr 8 Boys matches the ball shall weigh between 150 & 165 g.
- Yr 7 Boys and all Girls matches shall use a ball weighing between 140 & 150 g.
- Kit/Playing Equipment: helmets with face grids, a full set of stumps and bails, protective body gear (i.e. batting and keeping pads), boundary markers etc
- Scorebook/Scoresheet
- First-Aid Kit
CONVENOR
- If necessary the convenor has the authority;
- Change format of competition (i.e. match length, fielding change overs stop completely)
- Alter the draw
- Disqualify teams for inappropriate player, coach or spectator behaviour
- Cancel the competition in event of dangerous or inappropriate behaviour/environment
- Yellow and Red Card system
- ‘Yellow Card’ gives the umpires/convener the power to send a player from the field for a 10 minute period. A player sent from the field with a ‘Yellow Card’ is not replaced.
- ‘Red Card’ may also be given by the umpire/convener, without yellow card prior, if incident is deemed to be of a serious nature.
- If a player receives a ‘Red Card’ for unsporting behaviour or dissent then they will not be permitted to represent their school for the remainder of the Division competition or at subsequent Region/State level competitions if their team qualifies.
Batters SHALL BE GIVEN OUT if they do not wear a helmet with a face grid and pads.Wicket Keepers must wear a helmet with a face grid when they are standing up to the stumps for all types of bowling.
