Job Description
1)Nursing Unit
Assess the physiological and psychological status of each assigned patient across life span on arrival to the OR throughout the OR stay and identify emotional needs of patients and provide needed support.
Collaborate with the patient and surgical team members to develop plan of care during the perioperative period.
Collects, interprets, records and communicates pertinent data that is relevant to the patients care in surgery.
Prepares room with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment necessary to each individual surgical procedure.
Functioning as scrub or circulator during the surgical procedures for all types of elective and emergency cases performed.
Establishes and maintains a sterile field, monitors aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
Assists other team members upon the completion of surgery.
Handle all surgical specimens correctly, labeling and completing specimen forms.
Ensures that necessary precautions are taken.
Complete and document legibly on intra operative nurses notes.
Knows legal responsibilities and the reason for accuracy when performing operating room counts.
Knows proper procedure to follow in case of an incorrect occurrence.
Provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth and individuality of each human being.
2)Nursing Staff
Demonstrates understanding of role in hospital emergencies, fire and disaster drills.
Demonstrates initiative, adaptability and self learning when learning new equipment and operative procedures.
Performs effectively in crisis and emergency situations.
Accept responsibility for job performance by adhering to OR policies and procedures.
Cooperates with others personnel to maintain effective teamwork relationship.
Participates in education programs and workshop to increase professional competence and to meet personal needs and goals.
3)Medical Health Team
Coordinates and cooperates with other medical health team such as Radiology, Laboratory, and Pharmacy etc.
4)Transferring The Patient To The Pacu
As a member of health care team assist in assessments, implementation and evaluation of care needs for patient as an individual.
Recognize an emergency situation and intervene appropriately pending for the arrival of medical aid.
Responsible for the maintenance of highest possible standards of patient care at all times.
Adhere to the established nursing guidelines for the work unit.
Maintain relevant, accurate and concise verbal and written reports and respect the surgery.
Attend study days, seminars, lectures and reports back effectively and disseminate relevant information to colleagues and supervisor
Administration of medicine according to hospital policy
Responsible for daily inventory and checking of high alert, controlled and narcotic drugs.
