BASIC JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for

To coordinate Creative Arts therapy program within Able Australia services as well as children, adults and older people living in the community or in aged care.

To liaise with Able Australia services to ensure that the participants needs are being met through this program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibility
Coordination of Creative Arts program / Performance Indicators
  • Liaise with participants of Able Australia including care coordinators, team leaders, DB communication guides, music therapists and families to discuss program planning.
  • Explore growth of data base for this program including NDIS potential participants.
  • Create various activities to meet the needs of the participants
  • Ensure consent and permission for work to be exhibited and used for promotional materials for Able Australia are sourced through the artist or the parent / guardian.
  • Ensure that all participants / guardians / parents have signed a service agreement to participate in the program.
  • Liaise with Ablelink for the crafts program with deafblind participants on Wednesdays.
  • Coordinate all feedback and continuous improvement and record of services provided in the Carelink+ system.
  • Sessions are either on group or individual and is fee for services based activity.
  • Present at various organisations and the wider community about the success of the Creative Art program. This includes 1 or 2 presentations at relevant conferences as discussed with the National Deafblind Services Manager.
  • Develop potential research project and liaise with relevant university, Australia and NZ Arts Therapy Association, international related organisations.

Key Responsibility
Develop and maintain a financially sustainable services / Performance Indicators
  • Cost control and revenue generation through efficient use of Able Australia resources that is align with an agreed budget
  • Promote growth of Creative Arts program through development of partnerships with key stakeholders such as DHHS, NDIS, aged care facilities and other relevant organisations.
  • Liaise with the National Manager of Deafblind Services and Submission coordinator for additional funding grants.
  • Liaise with the Communications / Events / fundraising team to continuously enhance marketing and funding opportunities for this program.

Key Responsibility Administrative tasks / Performance Indicators
  • Active Participation at the monthly Deafblind Services meeting
  • Under take an annual equipment needs analysis.
  • Complete the monthly Board of Accounts in liaison with the Finance Department within Able Australia
  • Active participation at various events and workshops as required related to the Creative Arts program
  • Complete monthly reports outlining the program activities to the National Deafblind Services Manager
  • Ongoing monthly supervision meetings with National Deafblind Services Manager

  • Provide one to one support to participants where required such as transport and communication that is relevant to the Creative Arts program.

Key Selection Criteria / Knowledge:
  • Excellent understanding of art therapeutic issues / best practices
  • Excellent knowledge of deafblindness and other disabilities implications
  • Understanding, interest and commitment to the rights of people with disabilities and those from culturally diverse / indigenous backgrounds
Skills:
  • Semi proficient Auslan skills required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written skills
  • Effective organisational skills and time management
Experience:
  • Work with people who have disabilities to achieve their aspirations and goals
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision
Qualifications & Training:
  • Graduate diploma or Masters in Creative Art Therapy
  • Update with art therapy related courses
  • Current Police check
  • Current Level 2 first aid certificate
  • Current Victorian Drivers license
