Creating housing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities

October 20, 2018

Dear Housing Now Supporter:

Housing Now helps individuals who are developmentally disabled become and stay independent with their housing needs! Housing Now educates individuals and families on future housing options. Housing Now receives calls from people or their representatives seeking housing on a daily basis and refers people to housing resources. Although not declared at this time: there is a state of emergency for housing!

Housing Now has been contacting housing developers to create more housing options for extremely low income people. Housing Now advocates for more funding resources to create more housing.

Housing Now is a member of the Sacramento Housing Alliance and participates in the Housing Advocacy work group. Currently, Housing Now is actively participating in the HUD required Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing public input sessions to assure individuals with I/DD are represented in Sacramento County and surrounding counties.

Housing Now is a member of the Lanterman Housing Alliance (LHA). LHA is a statewide housing group sharing housing ideas, advocating for more housing funding and educating members on new issues. LHA, at their October Thought Leaders housing conference, is hosting Laura Brackin who will speak on CMS rulings as it relates to housing. Christina Elliott, Executive Director of CAL ABLE, will also present how the ABLE account can assist people with sustaining their housing.

Housing Now depends on your membership dues and donations to continue our work and be an effective resource in the ten county area served by Alta California Regional Center.

We need your help to continue offering these important services to individuals with I/Developmental Disabilities.
