Creating Authentic College Experiences When

a High School Teacher is the College Professor

Rapid Self-Assessment

National Early College Conference | October 2013

Purpose

This worksheet will help familiarize you with some of the core practices identified in NACEP’s national quality standards for concurrent enrollment partnerships (CEPs). NACEP has observed that the consistent implementation of these practices (though this list is not comprehensive) distinguishes high quality CEPs that create academically authentic college courses. We have alsoidentified four areas that schools can focus on to address non-cognitive aspects of creating a collegiate environment where students are exposed to the unwritten rules and expectations of being a college student.

Collegiate Academic Habits

Students are expected to follow a syllabus and manage their own workflow.

Consistent Expectations

Concurrent enrollment students are held to the same expectations and standards of achievement as on campus students, in the areas of course placement/prerequisites, course content, assessment methods and grading scales, and registration/transcripting procedures.
