Create your own Cereal and Cereal Box

Now that we are starting to get used to what marketing is all about you will be asked to use your current knowledge of marketing (the marketing mix/4p’s) and your prior knowledge of cereal packaging to create a cereal box.

Use your imagination and be creative. Think of current trends in the food world…how can you capitalize on that????

Directions:

Before you begin you will need to log onto Google Drive, create a presentation (yellow), name it cereal project, and finally share it with .

Directions:

Slide 1: Name of product. Come up with a creative name not a generic name.

(5 points)

Slide 2: product description…. tell me about the product. Be very specific. Do not assume anyone or I knows what you are speaking about. This product cannot already exist…you need to create a new Cereal. (10 points)

Slide 3: Who is your customer profile. Write in a complete sentence. Make sure your target age of your consumer relates to the price of the product. Everything in your customer profile should add up and make sense.

Age, Gender, Income Level, Lifestyle/attitudes.(15 points)

Slide 4: Marketing Mix(30 points)

Slide 4a: Price…. Why is the product at this price? Be specific about why you want it at this price. There needs to be a reason for it. Do not be lazy really think it out!

Slide 4b: Place…. Where can we buy this product??? Think about places in our area where you would generally buy cereal. There are cheap places to buy cereal and expensive places to buy cereal. Based on your price and your target customer this should all relate. Why have you chosen this place or places to sell your product???

Slide 4c: Promotion…. This is where you can get really clever…. You will design a promotion for your product. You will create a commercial on Powtoon. You have to convince your consumers that they need this product. A lot of times just telling consumers that your product is good is not enough. I expect you to do much more than that!!

Finally, you will create and print out what the front of your cereal box looks like. For full credit it should be in color. If you don’t have a color printer it cost 15 cents at Fedex or Staples to print in color. This part of the project is worth 40 points. If you do not do this part you cannot pass this assignment.
