GHC “CURRENT SINGERS ONLY” UPDATE
Love is the 7th Wave

As Denis has mentioned at choir we will be singing this song a semi-tone higher than it indicated by the sheet music you have (site readers be aware). We won’t be replacing the sheet music but the parts files have been updated in the Current Singers Only section. If you downloaded copies of this song’s parts files to your computer before 5 pm on Oct 30th please delete them and replace them with the new files.

Trees Grow Slow for Women Tenors

This parts file has been updated. If you downloaded a copy of Tenor Women's file prior to Monday, Oct. 28 at 5 pm please delete that file from your computer and replace it with the current updated one.

GHC NEWS & BUSINESS

CHOIR POTLUCKS
There will be potluck gatherings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on each of the following choir nights:

Tuesday November 5th

Thursday November 7th

Monday November 11th

These potlucks, held every season, are a tradition in the choir that allows us to get to know each other a little better.
Please bring a tasty dish to share and your own plate, cup and cutlery. An ingredients sign would be helpful for those with dietary considerations and perhaps a name label in case someone wants to get your recipe from you.
All choir members are welcome at all potlucks. Come and enjoy!

Editor’s Note:

For an advance look at lyrics for the grace(s) we tend to sing at potlucks (plus those for the choirs birthday song) please click on:

CCLT UPDATES

Community Choir Leadership Trainings ~ A two week workshop for current and prospective community choir leaders facilitated annually by Denis & Shivon. Please pass the information below on to anyone you know who might be glad to receive it.

CCLT10 2013 FOLLOW-UP

The CCLT grads from the 2013 program are sending each other many supportive pieces on the Facebook Page that’s set up for them to share information. Some of them have actually started choirs or are planning in the near term to do so. They are almost all talking about how special and unique their time was here. The things they included in these conversations are the excitement of attending the GHC and HNC sessions while they are in Victoria, the support they receive from Shivon and Denis as they moved through the 2 weeks of the program, the opportunity to teach and learn from the Ad Hoc choirs that many of you volunteered to come to, and the friendships and on-going resources they have gained throughout the training and through the follow-up and continued mentoring they are and will continue to receive.

These are the positive aspects of the CCLT program that keep new potential song leaders applying for and participating in the program over the past 10 years and we hope for years to come.

You can check out the member choirs, under the Choir Directory tab, most of whom are CCLT grads at http://www.ubuntuchoirs.net/

THE POETRY OF THE EARTH (Nov. 2)
Poetry has always reflected the evolving attitudes of societies towards the natural world. Using examples from widely selected times and places, we will explore some of the currents in these traditions. Noticing commonalities and differences can inform us as to how the natural world has been regarded and valued.
We will also consider some beautiful examples of contemporary poetry that explore our relationship with the Earth. Resonating with the incisive and commanding voice of the poetic tradition, these poems speak to contemporary societys re-awakening awareness of our intimate connection with the natural world.
Plus, we'll do a bit of singing!
Date & Times:

Nov. 2, 2013, 10:00 - 4:00

Location:

Church of Truth, 111 Superior St, cost: $50.
