Renaissance Figure Research – Become an Expert

Introduction: Starting in the 1300s, the ideas of humanism and the Renaissance quickly spread throughout Europe. During this rebirth of Greek and Roman culture, certain people stood out as influential leaders in different fields: Art, Literature, Science, and Government. For this project you are going to research one person from the Renaissance andcreate a museum pedestal (display) describing your individual.

Follow the steps below to receive full credit for this assignment

Step 1. Research your Renaissance Figure

Instructions: Become an expert on your assigned Renaissance person. Complete the Research below using the sources provided for you. You must reference your source next to each portion of the research by placing the number of the source next to each section number or letter.

_____7.Images: Print at least four images of your person’s work. You might really want a full sized picture and pictures of significant achievements. You can print them separately or on one page.

Step 2. Create your Renaissance Museum Pedestal

Instructions: For this portion of your project, you must now create a museum pedestal/display of your figure. This includes a bust of your figure and stand/pedestal for it to go on. It must include the research from the previous step. Complete each part of this step below. Place a check next to each part of this step when you have completed it. Refer to the sample your teacher provides you to complete the bust and pedestal.

_____1.Before beginning, get your research approved by your teacher.

_____2.Create your bust. Neatly Sketch or trace the shape of bust on a piece of blank paper. Cut it out. You may either draw or print off a picture of your figure onto this portion of the museum display.

_____3.Create your pedestal. On this portion of your display, you will implement the research from step 1. Take a legal piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of your bust. Place your information on this piece of paper. This must be done in a neat fashion.

  1. For each of the six sections of the research, create a symbol that represents that topic and then label it underneath (Biographical information; Talents; Personality; Famous Works/Accomplishments; Impact; Interesting information). You may draw or paste these onto the legal paper.
  1. Under each symbol, write down at least three bullets points summarizing your research from each section. This must be thorough and neat. You may type or write this onto your legal piece of paper.

_____4.Create a name plaque. Get this piece of paper from your teacher. On this name plaque, place the name of your figure and the portion of the Renaissance that they influenced (refer to your target sheet).

_____5.To receive extra credit, add any artistic or creative pieces to your bust and pedestal to make it more professional and appealing.
