AssistantProgram Coordinator

This full-time position provides support in Crawford County to deliver and evaluate high quality programs in Crawford County. The Assistant Program Coordinator is under the supervision of the County Program Coordinator. This job consists of a 32hourwork week withoccasional variability in work hours, includingnights and weekends.

This position requires a positive team player that works with office staff and clients to carryout successful programing. The individual will work closely with the County Program Coordinator, ISUEO Youth Program Specialists, the Regional Director (RD), and Region 12 Youth Staff as needed.

Extension Council Collaboration

  • Uses standard policies and procedures regarding county business operations and council relations (Personnel Handbook, Fiscal Policy).
  • Work with Council to develop long-term goals and strategic plan as directed by Council.
  • Informs Council of county activities, projects and programming with project outcomes through a monthly staff report.

Leadership

  • 4-H Youth Development programming/administration needs
  • Supports strategies to develop and sustain volunteer networks
  • Offers comprehensive and complex programming to support long-term change, matching relevant information and programs with audience needs
  • Assists withNeeds Assessments and secures resources for K-12 Youth Outreach Programming
  • Supports office operations as needed

Program Delivery

  • As 4-H Youth Development Program Lead, implement research-based curriculums in partnership with other agencies/organizations
  • Make appropriate community contacts to develop additional program resources
  • Recruits and supports volunteers in various Extension program materials; work with volunteers to address 4-H Youth Development Program needs
  • Serve as Coordinator for specific educational events that occur as part of the comprehensive program
  • Works with Staff and Volunteers to answer client questions and respond to client requests for technical assistance
  • Foster and contribute to a positive work climate with colleagues, advisory group audiences, regional partners, and counties Crawford County 4-H Youth Development Committee

  • Maintain appropriate records of education activities utilizing the Event Planning Checklist
  • Prepare marketing and follow-up articles/photos of Extension events and communicate Extension work on web site and through Success Stories
  • Consult with ISUEO YouthProgram Specialists, Region 12 Youth Staff and Crawford County 4-H Youth Development Committee on current issues
  • Use technology for program communication, trend monitoring, and locating information

  • Identify both program and personal goals for growth

  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree and/or teaching experiencepreferred
  • Team player, dependable, self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Required to work outside of a normal work schedule. The successful candidate will be expected to manage their schedule to satisfactorily meet the requirements of the position including evening and weekend commitments.
  • Knowledge of 4-H Youth Development Program

Job Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to youth and adults
  • Experience in organizing activities, events and in working with groups.
  • Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, etc.)
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter; able to initiate work without direct supervision
  • Valid driver’s license with own reliable transportation

Accountability

This person reports to the County Program Coordinator.

Evaluation

The County Program Coordinator will do annual performance review.
