Craig Barton Outstanding Greek Sophomore Award

The Craig Barton Outstanding Greek Sophomore Award was established in honor of WSU Greek Alumnus, Craig Barton, who has graciously endowed this award. Due to Mr. Barton’s generosity, the Outstanding Greek Sophomore Man and Woman will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

1.  Students who meet the following criteria are eligible for this award:

·  The student must have been initiated before the beginning of the Spring 2015 semester.

·  The student must have a at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average through the Fall 2015 semester and must have completed at least 30 credit hours by the end of the Spring 2015 semester.

2.  Applicants need to include information for their entire Greek experience, not just their sophomore year.

3.  Applicants must submit the application found on pages 2 & 3 of this document.

4.  Applicants must submit the Release of Information Authorization form on page 4 of this document. Applicants who do not submit this form will not have their application forwarded to the judging committee.

5.  The following recommendation letters must be submitted with the completed application form:

·  One letter from a WSU faculty/staff member, or from an alumni/graduate advisor to the student’s chapter.

·  One letter from a fellow WSU Student.

6.  Two $1,000 scholarship awards will be given each year, one to the Outstanding Greek Sophomore Man and one to the Outstanding Greek Sophomore Woman.

7.  Each applicant will be required to participate in an interview with the Greek Award judges on February 1st or 2nd, 1 – 5 p.m. Once completed applications are emailed to you will receive a confirmation email, which will include the sign-up for a 15 minute interviews time.

8.  All documents should be emailed to with the subject line: “{Name}, {Chapter}, {Award Title}.” Please make sure you receive a confirmation email following the submission of your award. If you do not receive an email, re-submit or do a follow-up with Chad Warrick at (316) 978-7016. Do not assume your application has been received. Email errors will not allow for an application to be accepted late.

9.  Please use Times New Roman size 12 font when completing your application.
