CPNA Annual Summer Garden Festival

June- September 2012

What:

The CPNA will be holding its second annual garden festival throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome to participate who lives within the CPNA Neighborhood Association boundaries. You do not need to be a CPNA member to enter. CPNA Board Members may participate in the festival, but cannot participate in the judging in order to win prizes. This year there will be two competitions. One end of June for those early bloomers and the second will be in August for the late bloomers. You may choose to enter either one or both of the judging’s

Objective:

1)Help beautify the neighborhood

2)Recruit more members for the CPNA

3)Visibility for the CPNA

4)Meet your neighbors

5)Fundraiser for the CPNA

6)Neighborhood pride

How it works:

Enrollment forms to participate in the CPNA Garden festival will be available at the CPNA meeting in June and will be available at other locations. (CPNA Website)

There is a small entry fee of $20.00 to enter either one or both of the contests. Money collected will be split 50/50. 50% to CPNA to support neighborhood activities and efforts and 50% to the *grand prizewinner of the garden festival. The more people who participate the higher the grand prize. Encourage your neighbors to participate.

Many other prizes will be donated by South Boston and other businesses

Categories: are as follows: (You may enter for one or more categories) *to be eligible for the grand prize you must enter at least 3 of the 9 categories.

1)Best window boxes

2)Best front garden space

3)Best back garden space

4)Best deck/patio/rooftop space

5)Best public space (Space on sidewalk in front of your residence)

6)Best use of color and flower selection

7)Best use of greenery (no flowers but rather shrubs, trees and any other greenery)

8)Best use of props in garden, (This would include water, fountains, containers, sculpture, etc.)

9)GRAND PRIZE GARDEN- Must include elements of at least 4 categories of the above

Timeline:Entry forms must be returned by June 20s, 2012 with a check for $20.00 Made out to CPNA and mailed to Paul Goulet 1008 Brook Road, Milton, MA 02186 Judging will be done in for the early bloomers contest on Saturday June 30th and the late bloomers contest inAugust will be judged on Saturday, September 1, 2012. If you enter and are away on vacation during the judging you will have an opportunity for another date for your entry to be judged. Prizes will be awarded at a special CPNA meeting on September 11th, 2012. We would like everyone who participates in the Garden Festival to attend the festivities on that evening. It promises to be a very fun night!
