THE SECRETARY-GENERAL,

TO

CPDM, WCPDM AND YCPDM SECTION PRESIDENTS

PRESIDENTS OF COUNCIL CAMPAIGN COMMISSIONS

Theme: The CPDM, Crucible of National Cohesion,

at the Service of Cameroon’s Emergence.

On 24 March 2014, spurred by recent electoral victories recorded in 2013 in a new electoral context, marked by the institution of biometrics, the militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, in communion with the vast majority of Cameroonians of good will, will celebrate the 29th Anniversary of the birth of our great Party with legitimate pride, more determined and committed to serve the general interest of the Party and the Nation.

All the militants are therefore urged, beyond their legitimate celebrations, to devote time to reflect on a theme that relates to events recently celebrated with pomp in our country. The theme for this anniversary, which comes on the wake of the grandiose and memorable celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversaries of Cameroon’s Independence and Reunification, is as follows: «The CPDM, Crucible of National Cohesion, at the Service of Cameroon’s Emergence».

It is a unifying theme that refers to the very foundations of our Party. Indeed, rallying implies unity, solidarity, pooling forces and energies together in discipline, to boost the primacy of public interest over private interests.

This theme advocates capitalizing on our achievements in terms of freedom, consolidation of the rule of law and building a democratic state.

The theme rests on peace and stability without which the emergence objectives would be doomed to fail.

Lastly, it is a theme that resonates with CPDM militants in particular, and Cameroonians in general, by echoing security issues (internal security, border and maritime security), that are necessary pre-conditions for the populations’ welfare and development as well as economic and social progress for strong and inclusive growth.

On the occasion of the 29th anniversary, I am therefore appealing for closed ranks, greater internal cohesion and vigilance from each and everyone and at all times so that together, we will be able to spearhead the mechanism for the elimination of insecurity, a phenomenon which undermines the fundamental freedoms of movement, job-creation and income-generation.

As usual, I urge comrades to celebrate in a dignified, disciplined and responsible manner, displaying a sense of sharing and involvement of all.

Organizing teams have been set up at the Party headquarters and at local level to ensure a successful celebration.

In line with our option to stay close to Party militants, the celebration unit of the 29th anniversary of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement will be the council. Under the supervision of CPDM Section Presidents, celebrations will centre on political rallies and intellectual, sporting, cultural and socio-economic activities, etc. They will exalt national unity and integration, national solidarity and cohesion in support of the Major Accomplishments Programme designed by His Excellency Paul for an emerging Cameroon by 2035 as outlined in the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper (GESP)

Section Presidents will receive various forms of support from leaders of the last legislative and council elections Campaign Commissions. At the end of the celebration, a report will be submitted to the Secretary-General of the CPDM Central Committee who will in turn inform the National President.

I count on your high sense of responsibility in the organization and conduct of activities scheduled in your respective political units.

Accept, Dear Comrades, my warm and militant greetings.

Happy anniversary to you all!

Yaounde, 17 March 2013

Jean NKUETE

Secretary-General of the Central Committee
