Course: Algebra 2

Prerequisite: Geometry

Description: This course extends the concepts and applications of the algebraic process. Major topics include: complex numbers, relations and functions, exponents and logarithms, quadratic relations, probability and statistics, polynomial functions, trigonometry, conic sections, radical equations and inequalities. This course makes regular use of the graphing calculator to make technology an integral part of the problem solving process.

Supply List

The following supplies are strongly suggested:

  • 3-Ring binder and 3 dividers
  • Graphing calculator (TI-83+, TI-84, or similar)
  • Graph Paper
  • Composition or spiral notebook for warm ups
  • 1 pack of 4 AAA batteries to be stored in classroom for calculators
  • 1 package of Expo Markers

Notebook

  • All students are required to keep a 3-ring binder that will contain all work.
  • Dividers should be labeled in the binder in the following order: Notes, Classwork, and Tests/Quizzes.
  • Work and notes should be placed in the notebook with the most recent on top or to the front.
  • Notebooks will be graded sporadically for completion of notes, warm-ups, and organization of past quizzes and tests.

Classwork

  • Students are expected to keep up with assignments and notes from the school website when they are absent.
  • Late work will be accepted forexcused absences only.
  • There will always be class time given to work on assignments.

Tests

  • Tests will be given at the end of each unit.
  • Missed tests must be made up during directed studies for after school on Tuesday. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ARRANGE A TIME WITH ME TO MAKE UP TESTS AND QUIZZES MISSED.
  • Quizzes will be given weekly.

Tutoring

  • I will be available to tutor after school on Mondays from 2:15 to 3:15, or other days after school by appointment.

Classroom Behavior

  • Be respectful of others.
  • Be responsible. Come to class prepared.
  • Cell phones will be placed in the calculator caddy on my wall according to assigned number EVERYDAY!
  • Be on time and in dress code.
  • Use the restroom before class.
  • No food or drink allowed.
