Instructor Bio

Ms. Satu Pitkänen is a senior lecturer of Law at Haaga-Helia University of Applied sciences in Helsinki, since 1996. Her areas of teaching are the Finnish Civil Law, the International Business Law and the European Union Law. She teaches both Finnish and international students. She has acted as a visiting teacher several times at Pole Universitaire Léonard de Vinci in Paris and at FH Joanneum in Graz.

Satu Pitkänen graduated in Helsinki School of Economics (Aalto University) in 1980 with Law as her major field.

Course Pre-requisites, Co-requisites, and/or Other Restrictions

When attending the course the student must have basic knowledge of national law. He/she must understand the concept of legal personality and be familiar with the basic principles of Contracts Law, Business trade Law, Consumer trade Law and Competition Law.

Course Description

The aim of the course is to give the student a sound understanding of the legal framework of international business and to provide a comprehensive introduction to International Business Law. The focus of the course in on business contracts and trade.
