FINANCIAL TIME

Italy:ENEL opens two new geothermoelectrical power plants in order to produce new electricity:

an investment of 210 Billions Lire.

Inaugurated yesterday (21st July 2007) those two new geothermoelectrical power stations are capable enough to produce 260Mw/h each year and a total capacity of 40Mw, enough electricity to supply more than 350.000 people.

The new high-advanced technology of using fluids recycle technique at a depth of 1000m is reducing massively the environment impact and the acoustic noise, making this one of the most important step fot the italian geothermical energy developement;By the next five years, infact, there will be an increase of 200Mw added to the 512Mw already provided by the existing plants.

With this investment of 210 Billions Lire ENEL is -on the way to develope and improve the italian geothermical resources- as declared by its chairman, mr.Chicco Testa.

Focus on italy:

Inaugurated two new geothermoelectrical power stations.

21st July - Today the italian ENEL opened two new geothermoelectrical power stations (210 billion lire) in the northern Italy to supply a production of 260 kw/h per year and a total capacity of 40Mw - enough to support needs of 350.000 people.

Those plants are working with a new powerful technology - used by ENEL - developed to use a particular recycling technique able to recycling fuids at a depth of 1.000 mt, reducing radically the environment impact and the acoustic noise.

During the next five years ENEL will provide to build enough power tations to increase the producing capacity of 200Mw plus the 512Mw already produced by the already existing facilities: In the meanwhile socio-economic benefits and the opportunity to create new employment will increase.

"With a great satisfaction we can admit" - said the ENEL chairman - "That ENEL is constantly working to develope and increase the italian geothermical production, taking care of environment and, obviously, people".
