Attendance: CM Michael Corrigan; CM Stephen Joost; CM Don Redman; Sherry Hall, Policy Director; Diana Chastain, concerned citizen; Celeste Hicks, ECA to CM Joost; Scott Wilson, ECA to CM Redman; and Dianne Smith, ECA to CM Corrigan
Meeting Convened: 12:35 p.m.
Councilman Corrigan opened the meeting and greeted everyone in attendance.
Copies of the Finance Committee Budget Hearing dates to be held August 13, 20 & 28, 2009, were distributed (copy of which is attached). The schedules are prepared by the Council Auditors’ Office and coordinated with the City Departments.
As Chair of the Finance Committee for Council Year 2008-2009, Councilman Corrigan advised Councilman Joost to feel free to contact him at any time regarding procedural questions about this year’s budget. He shared issues concerning the budget hearings that he encountered last year, i.e., rearranging the schedule, keeping within time allotments, departments that required more time, additional information needed from departments, and the Wrap-Up meeting.
CM Joost expressed the possibility of extending the hearing times, due to the Finance Committee members being increased from seven to nine, in order to give all committee members time to comment and ask questions.
There being no further discussion, Councilman Corrigan thanked everyone for attending.
