Costing an Enquiry
1.0Introduction:
Having evaluated an enquiry it is essential that the cost of the services required is known to the Company in order to ensure that it is able to put the necessary resources in place profitably.
2.0Objective:
To ensure that enquiries are costed in accordance with the Company’s procedures such that a decision may be made as to whether to submit a proposal to the Customer.
3.0Procedure:
Use various criteria in order to provide a costing for the provision of services by the Company for subsequent submission of a proposal to the customer.
Consider:
ΟOverheads – fixed and variable
ΟAsset management
ΟSalaries
ΟChargeable mileage
ΟGeographical position
ΟOverall area to be covered
ΟRural nature of the area
Public Sector:
ΟSpot purchasing prices on contracts
ΟRation of fixed costs to fixed per capita income
Private individuals who are self funding:
ΟCompetition
ΟMarket requirements
ΟService Users needs
Ensure that all variables are taken into account

4.0Persons Responsible:
Group Director
Company Secretary
Accounts
The Group Director is responsible for authorising this procedure
The Company Secretary is responsible for ensuring that all legal and statutory requirements have been taken into account
The Accounts Department is responsible for ensuring that the proposal is commercially viable to the Company
