Jock McInroy Memorial Cup: awarded to competitor with most points in the Piping Events - classes 33–35.

DANCING EVENTS

Kildrummy Cup: awarded to the competitor with most points in the 9-11 years age group – classes 36 – 39.

HORTICULTURAL AND INDUSTRIAL SECTIONS

The Committee Members’ Cup: awarded to the committee member with the most points in Sections I, II, III, IV, V & VI.

The Stewart Perpetual Challenge Shield: awarded to the competitor with the most points in Sections I, II & III.

The Earl of Airlie Challenge Cup: awarded to the local competitor (ie resident within the parishes of Cortachy, Prosen and Clova, Tannadice, Airlie, Lintrathen, Kingoldrum, Glenisla and Kirriemuir) with most points in Sections I, II & III. The winner of the cup will have possession for one year only, and will be responsible for its safe custody whilst in his/her care. £1.50 will be awarded with the cup.

The Sutherland Perpetual Challenge Shield: awarded to the competitor with most points in the Flower Section.

The Nelson Trophy: awarded for the most outstanding exhibit in the Flower Section. A voucher will also be awarded.

The Macaulay Perpetual Challenge Shield: awarded to the competitor with most points in the Vegetable and Fruit Sections.

The Jim Whitelaw Perpetual Trophy: awarded for the most outstanding exhibit in the Vegetable Section.

A Trophy donated by Mrs Patsy Paton will be awarded for the most outstanding exhibit in the Vegetable and Fruit Sections.

The Lady Ogilvy Cup: awarded to the competitor with most points in the Industrial Section.

Clootie Dumpling: prize money for this class has been donated by Mrs Elsie Nicoll.

The Gingerbread Plate has been donated by Mr Neil Houstoun.

A Quaich for best stick has been donated by Mrs Alison Bell.

Children’s Section

A Cup will be awarded to the competitor with most points in the Children’s Section.

Prizes of £1 for best exhibit in each of sections VII to X and £2.00 for best exhibit overall in these sections.

There is no charge for entering any of the Field Competitions as the payment of admission money to the Games qualifies anyone to compete in any and every Field Event.

HORTICULTURAL AND INDUSTRIAL SECTIONS

DIRECTIONS FOR COMPETITORS

  1. The Committees have the right to arrange such classes in the Horticultural Sections as they so desire.
  1. Competitors shall submit a list of the number of classes in which he or she intends to compete to the Secretary or the Convenor of any section not later than 9.30 am on the day of the Show and at the same time pay 10p for each entry, a maximum charge of £2.00 being levied, and any entries in excess of 20 by an individual competitor being allowed free of charge. Senior citizens and competitors under the age of 16 will be allowed free entry to all classes.
  1. All articles for competition must be delivered to the Convenor of the appropriate section in the Show Tent by 9.30 am on the day of the show. Judging will commence at 10 am. Competition labels, supplied on application to the Secretary or the Convenor of each section, must be carefully attached to each article with the name of the Competition Class on the outside. Exhibits must conform to the number and quantity detailed for the class in the schedule.
  1. All exhibits of cut flowers must be arranged in vases supplied by the Society.
  1. All articles for competition must be bona fide property of the exhibitor and have been for TWO months in his/her possession. For the purpose of the rule, the garden of every competitor shall be open to inspection by members of the Flower Show Committee at any time during two months before the show, on the day of the show, and for ten days thereafter.
  1. Qualified judges, who have no interest in the competition, shall be appointed by the Committees and their decision shall be final. The judges shall have the power to withhold or to modify any of the prizes, if, in their opinion, the articles are considered unworthy, and to disqualify exhibits which do not conform to the details in the schedule. When the judges are determining the prizes, no person shall be present except those specially appointed by the Committee.
  1. All complaints to be lodged in writing with the Secretary by 6 pm on the day of the Show.
  1. No exhibits may be removed from the Industrial and Flower Show until 3.45 pm on the day of the Show. Exhibits remaining on show at 4.00 pm will be considered available for public auction in aid of Society funds. Such donation of entries is much appreciated.

CHILDREN’S SECTIONS

All entries must be entirely the work of the competitor and may not have been exhibited previously at Cortachy Flower Show. Competitors are allowed one entry per class. Sections VII, VIII & IX will be judged in the following age groups (as at 15.08.10) - 8 years and under, 12 years and under, 16 years and under. Section X is open to pre-school children only.

The competitor’s date of birth must be clearly written on the official competition label.
