Minutes of Annual Meeting of Drogheda Borough Council held in The Tholsel, West Street, Drogheda, on Monday 24th June, 2013, at 7.00 p.m.

The Mayor Councillor P. Bell outlined the highlights of the year which included the opening of the Father Kevin Connolly Lourdes Stadium, sod turning for the Drogheda Enterprise Centre, promotion of tourism especially the organized bus tours to the town, advancement of the Boomerang Youth Café in Fair Street, celebration of the 600th anniversary of the town’s reunification., completion of phase 1 of the Mell Housing Project.
The outgoing Mayor, Councillor P. Bell thanked Councillor L. Bell Woods, Deputy Mayor and the Members of Drogheda Borough Council for their support during his term of office. He also thanked the County Manager and staff of Drogheda Borough Council for their assistance during the year. He thanked his wife Linda, Parents and family for their support during his term of office.

Election of Mayor.
Councillor K. Callan proposed that Councillor R. Culhane be elected Mayor for the coming year and this proposal was seconded by The Mayor Councillor P. Bell,
As Councillor R. Culhane was the only nomination he was deemed elected Mayor.
The Mayor Councillor R. Culhane thanked the Members for his election as Mayor. He paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor, Councillor P. Bell.
The Mayor, Councillor R. Culhane outlined his objections for his term of office which include promotion of inward investment, creation of a new initiative to create a joint approach to tourism with other medieval cities such as Waterford and Limerick, advance the interests of young people, advance the Boomerang Project.

Finally the Mayor, Councillor R. Culhane thanked his wife Cathy and family for their support.

Election of Deputy Mayor
Proposed by Councillor M. O’Dowd that Councillor A. Donohoe be elected Deputy Mayor and this was seconded by Councillor K. Callan.
As Councillor A. Donohoe was the only nomination he was deemed elected as Deputy Mayor.
The Members congratulated Councillor R. Culhane on his election as Mayor and
Councillor A. Donohoe on his election as Deputy Mayor. The Members also acknowledged the work carried out by Councillor P. Bell during his term as Mayor. Ms. Joan Martin, County Manager, on her own behalf and on behalf of the staff paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor and congratulated Councillor R. Culhane on his election as Mayor.
