An Introduction to Place2Be

At Place2Be we know that life is tough for many children. Like nine-year-old Luke who was having trouble coping after his dad died, like ten-year-old Mandy whose mum often leaves her on her own and has to wear dirty clothes to school, or like four-year-old Rik who gets into trouble by acting out the violence he’s seen at home.

Place2Be is an award-winning charity that works inside over 200 primary and secondary schools across the UK providing mental health services which are school based, and easily accessible to children, parents and carers. Place2Be also delivers a range of training programmes to build the skills of staff in schools and children’s centres. Place2Be mostly works in areas of high deprivation, reaching a total of 75,000 children. We work with children to remove barriers to learning and prevent more serious mental health and behavioural problems occurring in adolescence and later on adult life. The organisation places counsellors in primary schools to help children tell their stories, explore their feelings and build their coping mechanisms.

Earlier this year, Place2Be was fortunate to be able to announce HRH The Duchess of Cambridge as its Royal Patron. We have also been recently awarded high-profile grants from a unique collaboration between Comic Relief and the Royal Foundation as well as the Private Equity Foundation’s largest grant to date for Place2Be’s secondary school programme. This is an exciting and challenging time for the right individual to make a huge contribution to capitalise on the opportunity of our enhanced profile and grow our corporate income stream.
