Summary of Business Seminar on

"Cooperation between Nepal and Israel:Development on Agricultural Sector".

The Business Seminar on Cooperation between Nepal and Israel on development of Agricultural sector took place for the first time on Friday, Jan 9, 2015 at Hotel Radisson. FNCCI hosted this half day event which turned out to be quite fruitful with almost 65 participants.

The First session of Program started with opening remarks by Pradeep Jung Pandey, President of FNCCI.Hewelcomedthe Agriculture and Rural Development Minister of Israel Hon'ble Mr. MK Yair Shamir, H.E. Ambassador of Israel Mr.Yarom Mayer and all the Israeli Business delegates.He also extended his warm welcome to the Minister of Agricultural Development of Nepal Hon'ble Mr. Hari Prasad Parajuli. He talkedaboutNepal and Israel 's friendly relationship and diplomatic ties established in 1960.He acknowledge the support and cooperation of the Israeli Government in the development of agriculture sector in Nepalbelieving and concluding his speech that the new innovative methods learnt from Israel will help transformation of agriculture from subsistence farming to fully industrial operation and transform the village of Nepal.

Next,Presentation on "Potential Cooperation between Nepal and Israel in Agriculture Sector" by Ms. BhawaniRana, Chairperson, Agro Enterprise Center/FNCCI. She highlighted her presentation on areas of collaboration with Israeli companies focusing on Technology Transfer, Training program for Youth tying up with FNCCI, Regional level policy dialogue workshop on eco-friendly agriculture development, Technical and institutional capacity built of government staff, extension agencies, and men and women farmers to manage and facilitate commercialization of agri business and Technological, economic and institutional options identified, tested and promoted for post-harvest management and value addition.

Keynote Speech by Guest of Honor Hon'ble Minister Mr. MK Yair Shamir, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Israel. He opened his speech by addressing the 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and its strong bond since then. He talked about the agro- technologies and implementations while earning money in the process by providing dozens ofscholarships for Nepalese professionals every year. He exposed us about their technologies and solutions in Agro sector such as Micro Irrigation, Waterresources management.

And, the first session of the program ended with Vote of Thanks by Mr. Dinesh Shrestha, Vice President, FNCCI. He gave his thanks to all the distinguished participants for their kind participation and expected the next session would be fruitful in starting up a business linkage between private sector of our two nations.

Beginning of Second Session was a Presentation byMrPradipMaharjan, CEO, AEC where he spoke about the role of AEC and working together with GoN in promoting Agribusiness commercialization in Nepal by exploring the potential business opportunities such as AMIS, facilitating B2B, Policy advise and lobbying awareness and providing buy back guarantee for the farmers and rural entrepreneurs. He talked about AEC's project and programs and its involvement in the decision making in the high level committees and areas of collaboration with Israeli companies in the future.

Followed by Presentation from Israeli Agro Companies.
