Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) for non-fitters
Facilitator: Dr Susanna Leung
This LARC workshop is designed for those who are not currently fitters andthose who may wish to become fitters in thefuture.
General information will be presented on how to promote LARC methods to service users and specific counselling points together with examples.
In addition, information will be supplied on how to access training and the basic qualifications needed including new Faculty guidance on the
E-knowledge assessment (eKA) qualification, open to both doctors and nurses.
Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) for current fitters
Facilitator: Dr Susanna Leung
This LARC workshop is designed for those who currently fit LARC methods. This will be a master class with case histories for discussion.
It will also include information on how to become a trainer for those who wish to take this route.
Brook
Facilitator: Rebecca Buckle
Title: 'Brook - working with young people across Teesside'
Summary: 70% of the burden of sexual ill health falls on young people who are also the biggest users of sexual health services in Teesside. This workshop will showcase the work Brook are doing with young people and organisations across Teesside and to identify other opportunitiesfor partnership working .
The workshop will also look atwhere Brook services are located and how they can be accessed and referred into.
Contraception Update
Facilitator: Dr Anagha Nadgir
This workshop will look at in more detail the common problems faced when prescribing contraception…what to look out for...what are the common problems.
In addition Dr Nadgir will be looking at some practical contraception matters and local signposting arrangements into the sexual health service.
Terence Higgins Trust (THT)
Facilitator: Anthony Young
Title: ‘Test, Treat, Protect, Take Action - PEP, PrEP and U=U’ – understanding the community perspective’
The purpose of the workshop is to explore the facts and dispel the myths of the terms and to look at the information and support available across Tees to help:.
  • SupportHIV awareness to help ‘normalise’ HIV testing and reduce stigma.
  • Increase Point of Care Testing (POCT) for earlier diagnosis, specifically in MSM and LGBTQI cohorts.
  • Support enhanced outreach and engagement to help increase uptake of testing in Sexual Health Teesside clinics to reduce the late diagnoses of HIV and syphilis.

Teenage Contraception
Facilitator: Alison Hadley OBE
This workshop will focus on building on the success of the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy in reducing teenage conceptions across Teesside…what worked…what more can be done.
