NQS / 6.3.2
Our aim is to provide a secure and happy environment where children can develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical, aesthetic skills to become competent and confident individuals, and parents feel safe in the knowledge that their child is receiving the best possible care.
We believe the best way to work with you and your child is by building a partnership of care:
- Parents and children are welcomed, recognised, acknowledged and respected by all our educators
- Parents feel their child is really known by, and really knows, the people who care for him or her
- Families are given lots of information about what is occurring and are asked for their views
- Families are involved in making decisions about their child’s experiences
- Parents and children are received and greeted upon arrival
- Families feel their child is happy, secure and engaged
- Families feel their child is not just looked after but really cared for.
Casual educators will be provided with access to service policies and procedures, educator handbook, as well as description of their roles and responsibilities while at the service.
The service will aim to use the same pool of casual educators in the absence of permanent educators and encourages casual educators to become familiar with the service, educators, children and families, as well as routines. Where possible relief educators will be employed on the same day of the week to help them develop closer understanding of the children attending that day, and to help the children develop relationships with the casual educator.
New casual educators will be encouraged to display a photo and short introduction of themselves. This will help identify new educators to children and their families. Educator will advise parents and guardians of any changes to staffing patterns via newsletters. Where possible this will occur before the changes.
The service will make every attempt to employ educators from the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the children at the service or who represent the local community profile.
