Standard 3: Teaching and Assessing for Learning
The school’s curriculum, instructional design, and assessment practices guide and ensure teacher effectiveness and student learning. / Implementation of IKAN GloSS and Math Talks in grades K-5.
Provide a morning math lab to target 4thand 5th grade students who failed the CRCT or scored below 809. / If educators have adeeper understanding of math instruction, then students will achieve to a higher level in mathematics.
If educators establish a routine intervention targeting specific skills, then at-risk students will make greater gains in mathematics. / Beginning Sept.15, 2014 through May 22, 2015. /
  • Continued opportunities to train new staff members or offer refreshers for IKAN GloSS
  • Math Lead Teacher (Julie Auten) andone teacher per grade level

Tracking student progress in F & P through Data Teams led by a trained teacher leader. / If educators establish a routine intervention targeting specific skills, then students will make greater gains in reading fluency and comprehension. / Beginning August 27th, 2014 meetings scheduled every month for the school year. /

Writing Committee representatives wrote weekly lessons for K-5 teachers. One teacher from each grade level is represented on the team. Lessons are delivered on Monday and reinforced Tuesday through Friday. / If educators deliver systematic writing instruction that is integrated and relevant, then students will apply those skills to their everyday writing. / Beginning August11, 2014 through May 18, 2015. /

  • Jill Short (Writing Coach) and Cat Allen will monitor student growth.

Grade level teachers will design two integrated units with real world connections and performance based assessments. / If educators deliver instruction that is integrated and rigorous, then students will make meaningful connections and enduring academic gains. / Beginning August 6th, 2013 through May, 2014 /
  • Teachers will have one unit work day in the fall and spring. Teachers need continued training for staff in the creation of Performance Based Assessments.
