Additional considerations

In addition to the above, you will need to consider the following:

  • If you, or anyone living or regularly visiting your home have anyreason why they would be considered unsuitable to be around children, please seek further advice from Ofsted before proceeding. Prior to applying to register as a childminder you will need to have a DBS Check carried out on each person over 16 years of age that lives or visits your home - there is a cost for each DBS check you will require
  • If you live in rented accommodation you can still proceed with becoming a childminder however you will be asked by Ofsted for the landlord’s permission to work on the premises prior to your registration being approved. We strongly recommend that you obtain written permission from your landlord before proceeding with this application and incurring costs. Without this permission you will be unable to work as a childminder on the premises
