ORGANISATION CONTEXT:
Ermha is a community based not-for-profit organisation delivering a range of recovery focused psychosocial rehabilitation support & linkage services to people living within the community with a mental illness or psychiatric disability.
Services provided to groups and individuals are guided by a psychosocial rehabilitation model, which has its emphasis on recovery. In this context, recovery refers to maximising client well being through laying a foundation for self-management, skills development, rehabilitation, relapse prevention and meaningful engagement in their community.
Ermha employs a broad range of staff from a variety of backgrounds, delivering services across Melbourne via operational bases located in Springvale, Dandenong, Clayton, Barwon and Colac Regions.

People experiencing mental illness or disability are able to thrive in society, free from discrimination and disadvantage.
PURPOSE:
We work to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people living with mental illness or disability and their carers, by advocating for and directly supporting recovery, independence and social inclusion.
KEY TASKS:
The Consumer Representative role provides Ermha with a consumer perspective on the best way to engage consumers and carers, the best tools to use, and what can be done to improve Ermha’s services.
The Consumer Representative will be treated as a full member of the project group, and will undertake the following key tasks:
1. / Attend and actively participate in the scheduled meetings.2. / Establish and maintain good relationships with Ermha staff, consumers and carers
3. / Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of the activities of the project group and Ermha.
SUPPORT:
As a Consumer Representativeyou will be provided with the support you need to participate in the group. This will include time with a group member before meetings to discuss any questions you may have, as well as time afterwards to discuss anything you need further information on.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Lived experience of mental illness or disability as an Ermha consumer or caring for an Ermha consumer with a mental illness or disabilityAbility and willingness to actively participatein meetings
Willingness to participate ingroup decision making
Interest in promoting consumer participation at Ermha
Demonstrated ability to operate as a team member and a preparedness to accept someresponsibilityin the group
Good communication skills and a friendly attitude
ATTENDANCE:
You must be able to attend at least 6 meetings in a 12 month period.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Consumer Participation Working Groupis accountable to the Ermha Board through the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Director Operations.

REIMBURSEMENT
This position is reimbursed in accordance with Ermha’s Consumer Participation Reimbursement policy.
