Course Description:
This course is designed to show students how to spend money wisely and to understand some of the many problems a consumer faces. The areas discussed include consumer problems and protections, money management, savings and investments, credit purchasing, budgeting, and insurance.

Textbook: Economic Education for Consumers: 4th Edition
Paper/Notebook
Pen or Pencil
Calculator (for some chapters)
Participation:
Our class will be more meaningful and relevant to you when you participate. Do not hesitate to ask questions or share relevant personal experiences relating to class topics. The topics we discuss in class will relate to situations and experiences that you either have already begun to encounter in your own lives, or will encounter in the near future. “You will use this.”
Absences/Make-Up Work/Re-Takes:
When you return to class from an absence, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to see Mr. Lemke about what you have missed. It is not Mr. Lemke’s responsibility to seek you out to provide you with materials from your absence.You will have one opportunity to retake any summative assessments following the completion of outlined additional practice activities. You must complete a Summative Retake form beforehand.

Your semester grade will be based on the following percentages:
80% -Unit Exams – Summative Assessment – 65%(52% overall)
Projects – Summative Assessment – 35%(28% overall)
Classwork/Practice/Participation – Formative Assessment – 0%(0% overall)
20% -Final Exam(20% overall)

Grading Scale:
A – 90% ↑
B – 80% - 89%
C – 70% - 79%
D – 60% - 69%
F – 59% ↓
