Press Release Usage Guide/Best Practices

Overview:

As one of our partners, we want your PR efforts to be seen and get the most mileage possible. The following document provides guidance on distributing and getting your press release in front of the most important people: your customers and prospects.

The template is designed to be easy to use and customizable—simply “fill in the blanks” and send. When you use these templates “as is,” there is no need to get further Constant Contact approvals.

Customization:

If you would like to further customize a press release beyond what is provided for you in these templates, your press release must be approved by Constant Contact before you distribute it in any way. Turnaround typically requires up to 3 weeks. Please consider this when planning your promotions. To initiate the approval process, which includes a review by our public relations, investor relations, and legal teams, please contact your Area Director and ask them to communicate the request through appropriate channels to Constant Contact’s PR team.

To Use the Press Release Templates:

  • First, do a “save as” of this document. This will ensure you have a “master” template for your files.
  • For each press release, copy and paste the content of the template you would like to use into a separate document. Complete all highlighted sections to customize the template. (Tip: Don’t forget to remove the highlighting!)
  • For the event press release, copy and paste the appropriate event description(s) from the appendix into the body of the press release. (Hint: Don’t forget to delete the unnecessary event descriptions in the appendix.)
  • Proofread the document to make sure all details are correct and all your hyperlinks are live and correct.

Share your press release
By sharing your press release over a variety of channels and using the marketing power of the Constant Contact name, your news can go well beyond your website or local paper.

  • Website – Be sure to post your press release to your website—this can be the link you direct people to via all of your other communication channels (email, social, etc).
