Connecting to ParishSOFT Remote Solutions

1)Go to your Doc

2)Click on the App Store Icon

3)In Search bar, type Microsoft Remote Desktop

4)Click on "Get" or "Free" next to the icon

5)Click on "Install"

6)It will ask for your password and type it in

7)Click on Purchases

8)It may take a minute to show up but you will see it show in the list. Once it's downloaded, click on the icon

9)Click on "Open"

10)Once open, click on New

11)Under the general options, fill it out with this information

a)Connection Name: ParishSOFT Remote Solutions

b)PC name: remoteaccess.parishsoft.com

c)Gate way: Select the option for "No gateway configured"

d)username: PARISHSOFT10\ then your username

i)Example: PARISHSOFT10\tdemo1234

e)Password: type in your password

f)Resolution: Select "Native"

g)Colors: select "Highest Quality (32 bit)"

h)Full Screen Mode: Select "OS X native"

i)Check the boxes:

i)Start session in full screen

ii)Use all monitors

12)Click on Red X in top corner. It will show in the list of My Desktops

13)Go to your Doc and right click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop Icon

14)Select options and select Keep in Doc.

Logging into Remote Desktop

1)Single click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop Icon in your Doc

2)Double Click on ParishSOFT Remote Solutions

3)Click on Continue and you will be logged in

If you get a message about Verify Certificate:

1)Click on Show Certigicate

2)Check the Box for Always Trust... when connecting to...

3)Click Continue

Working in the Environment

A basic Windows interface is presented. You will have an icon for each module. To start the application double-click on the application icon you wish to use. You will then use the username and password you have for the ParishSOFT programs. This is DIFFERENT than the username and password for logging into the remote desktop.

While you are logged in a bar is shown at the top of the screen. This allows you to minimize this Windows session or you click go to your Doc and click on the Microsoft Remote Desktop Icon so you can work on your Mac. Clicking on the X does not log you off it only Disconnects you.DO NOT CLICK THE X TO CLOSE, IFYOU DO YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO LOG BACK IN FOR 8 HOURS! When you are finished working please log off by going to Start > Log Off.

If you click on Start and click on computer, you should see that your local drives have been ported over along with two other drives. The H:\ drive is a personal profile location and the I:\ drive contains the application database files that your entire organization shares.

Connecting to Parish Database from Demo Database

1)Open ParishSOFT Family Directory

a)If you get a message that the license is expired, Click Ok

b)In the Registration Code box, type in this code. All the 0 are zeros.

2)Log in the Demo Database with the username and password below

a)Username: Demo_Dan

b)Password: pass

3)Click on File in the Top Left Corner and select Open Parish Database

4)Click yes to the message

5)Click Computer on the left side

6)Double click on Shared Folder (I:) on the right side

7)Click on the PSData****.mdb file. Do NOT select one if it ends in DO NOT USE or PRE SYNC.

8)Click on open in the bottom right corner

9)Click yes to use this alternate.

10)Reopen ParishSOFT Module

11)Log in using your name in the drop down menu

Copy Contents from a spreadsheet on Remote Solutions and Paste into a

spreadsheet on your own computer

1)In Remote Solutions, open the spreadsheet that has the data you want to copy.

2)Single left click in the top left corner of the spreadsheet (between Column A and Row 1) tohighlight the entire contents.

3)Press Ctrl – C at the same time to copy the selection.

4)Minimize Remote Solutions.

5)Open Excel on your own computer.

6)In the top left cell (Cell A1), right click and Paste (or click in the first cell, and press Command – V).The contents will Paste into Excel.

7)You can save this spreadsheet on your own computer.

Moving Fileson Remote Solutions To Your Computer

Suggestion is to first create a new folder on your computer, I suggest on your desktop and calling it ParishSOFTDesktop

1)Log-in to Remote Solutions and bring up the file or report

2)Click on File and select Save As

3)Click on Desktop on left-hand side

4)Down in the File Name section, type in what you would like to call the file

5)Click on Save

6)Minimize the file or report

7)On the Remote Desktop, you will see your file listed near the ParishSOFT icons

8)Single click on the file

9)Press Ctrl – C at the same time to copy the file

10)Minimize Remote Solutions

11)Press Command – V at the same time to paste the file

12)Now on your computers desktop you will see the file

Printing in Remote Desktop

Setting Up Uniprint

A user must log in with administrative rights to perform the following steps.

1)Log on to the client workstation with administrative rights.

2)Go to

3)Scroll down to the section UniPrint Mac Client – 4.0.1 and click the DMG button below.

4)After the download, double click on the file to start the installation.

5)The installation is similar to other programs; there is nothing tricky in this section.

6)Once the installer is complete and you click Finish, you will be able to print starting the next time you start Remote Solutions.

7)Open the virtual image file called UniPrint Client for Mac 4.0.dmg.

8)Select Agree to accept the license agreement terms and conditions.

9)The virtual disk, UniPrint Client 4.0 Installer, should appear on your desktop.

10)In the UniPrint Client 4.0 Installer dialog box, drag the UniPrint Client folder to your Applications folder.

11)Once UniPrint Client 4.0 appears in the Applications folder, eject the UniPrint Client 4.0 Installer virtual disk to unmount the disk.

12)In the Applications folder, open the UniPrint Client 4.0 folder.

13)Double-click the UniPrint Client application icon to launch the client.

14)Once it is open on the dock, click and hold so that you get a menu, one of the options on this menu is open at Log-in. Select this option so that Uni-Print launches whenever you start your MAC.

15)Open your Microsoft Remote Desktop Icon and click on Microsoft Remote Desktop in top right hand corner.

16)Select preferences

17)Click on Printers make sure you check the box for Use a Printer that is connected to the mac

18)Click on Drive and select all disk drives

19)Click on File and Save file

20)Bring up Uniprint and select preferences

21)Make sure these options are selected:


How do I print from Remote Solutions?

1)To print from Remote Solutions, click print as you normally would.

2)In the first printer dialog, selectUniPrint. Select the desired page range. ClickOK.

3)In the second printer dialog, selectyour printer. From here, print as you normally do.
