Join the Norton PTA!

The number one priority for parents is their children’s well-being. More than 30 years’ worth of research has proven that children do better when their parents are involved both at home and at school. Grades and test scores climb. Self-esteem grows. Schools improve.

There’s a simple way for you to help your child succeed: Join the Norton PTA.

The Norton PTA helps parents, students, school staff, and the community work together to share ideas about programs and activities that benefit children. Our PTA provides information and resources that strengthen the connections between children, parents, schools, and the community.

In the past year, the Norton PTA organized programs and funded benefits to students including:

  • High-Touch/High-Tech science programs
  • School festivities: First Day Welcome, Celebration Day and Sixth Grade Promotion
  • Field trip subsidy of $10 per student
  • Construction of Outdoor Learning Center and Beth Tenenbaum Memorial Garden
  • New outdoor playground equipment
  • Scholastic Book Fair and School Store
  • Family Fun events such as Parent-Teacher Basketball game, Ice Cream Social Night, picnic at Mixville Park and Fall Fun Day at Norton Brothers’ Farm
  • …and much, much more!

This past year, the Norton PTA has helped purchase ten Chrome Books, a bass clarinet, iPads, playground equipment, area rugs for the classrooms, and miscellaneous classroom furniture and supplies. The money we raise goes directly to Norton School and the students. We also offer a $1,000 college scholarship to a graduating senior who attended Norton.

For every $20.00 membership, the Norton PTA keeps $14.50, while $5.50 goes to the Connecticut PTA. We need your help and want to hear from you, however, by joining the PTA, you are not obligated to volunteer for any committees or attend monthly meetings.
