Introduction

MES-2601 is an Android based media player. It can decode and playback HD video & photo files and apply Internet Medias, and also extend Android applications. It has all I/O ports including HDMI, A/V, S/PDIF, USB 2.0 socket and card reader. Besides the traditional remote control, it supports USB keyboard and mouse as the auxiliary control. This player provides good A/V entertainment and Internet Medias in your big screen TV set

Connection

Take the player out of the package. Plug in HDMI cable or composite video and audio cable to connect TV set. If you connect both HDMI and composite cable, press “Resolution” key on remote control unit to switch between them.

Press “Reset” button to reboot the player.

Insert the SD card to card reader to browse and playback.

Insert USB Storage to USB port to browse and playback.

Connect Ethernet cable for the network function.Most functions and applications on this player require Internet connection. The network environment should pass through the Internet to this player for the network application.

Installation

Place this player in the flat surface without obstacle to IR sensor in the front panel. Do not expose it to rain, fog or dusty area. Do not place heavy items over the power cable, HDMI cable or AV cable. Do not use wet hand or metal to touch the player.

Operation

Use remote control unit to control the player and use USB keyboard and mouse for auxiliary input.

Remote control unit:

POWER: Power on/Suspend

INFO:Select the media source

ALL:return to main menu

MUSIC: Hotkey to view the music file

PHOTO: Hotkey to view the photo file

MOVIE: Hotkey to view the movie file

Number key: number 0, 1 to 9

MUTE:mute

VOLUME +/-: increase/decrease volume

MENU:open System Setup page

RETURN: go up one folder/Exit the current menu

ZOOM+/-:Zoom In/out

, , , :direction key UP, LEFT, RIGHT, DOWN

ENTER: ENTER

PREV: Previous file/section

FR: Fast Reverse

FF: Fast Forward

NEXT: Next file/section

STOP: Stop

PLAY: Playback

PAUSE/STEP: Pause and step in frame by frame

RESOLUTION: Change the video output between HDMI and AV

REPEAT:1/ALL repeat file

L/R: switch to right/left audio channel removal or normal audio

USB keyboard and mouse:

Plug in the USB keyboard and USB mouse for auxiliary input.

Use keyboard to input text like URL in the browser, file name and etc. Click the windows key to return to main menu, and multimedia key including volume up/down, mute key to control the player.

When plug in the USB mouse, the cursor appears on TV screen. Move the mouse to move the cursor. Left click on the item to open it. Use the middle key to return to previous page. Use the scroll key to scroll the windows or move the cursor up and down.

Video playback

Click the “Video” icon in the main menu to enter the page, and select the category to browse the video files. If the media source isn’t selected, you can select it in the prompt window.

Select “All” to browse the video file list which is scanned from media source by the player. Select “Date” to browse the video file according to the file date. Select “Folder” to browse each folder. Select “Recent” to browse the last playback video file. You can press the hot key to enter the above function. Press “SETUP” to show the hot key definition.

To play the video, click the video to playback. During playback, use remote control to control the playback like fast forward, reward and etc.

Photo playback

Click the “Photo” icon to browse the photo files. Select “All” to browse the photo file list which is scanned from media source by the player. Select “Date” to browse the photo file according to the file date. Select “Folder” to browse each folder. Select “Recent” to browse the last playback photo file. You can press the hot key to enter the above function. Press “SETUP” to show the hot key definition.

Setup options: when browsing photo file list, press “SETUP” key to pop up the sub menu and select “Settings” to configure the options like general setting, slideshow and etc.

Slideshow: press “SETUP”key in the photo file list to pop up the sub menu, and then select “Slideshow” on it to playback the photo as slideshow. To configure the slideshow options, select “Settings” in the sub menu, and select the slideshow options like background music, transition effects and etc.

Music playback

Click the “Music” icon to browse the music files. The music files in the media source will be sorted by Artists, Albums according to the ID Tag in the file. Select “Artists” and “Albums” to view the list. Select “Songs” to browse all songs scanned in the media source. Select “Playlists” to view the playlist file, or browse the recently added music file. You can press the hot key to enter the above function. Press “SETUP” to show the hot key definition.

In the music file list, press “ENTER” key for a while to pop up the sub menu.Select “Library” to return to Music page. Select “Play all” to play all music files. Select “Playback” to play the highlighted file.

In the music playback page, you can select the icons to forward, reverse, and pause the music. Select the icons in the right to view the file list, and switch on shuffle and repeat mode. Press “SETUP” key to pop up the sub menu. Select “Library” to return to music page. Select “Add to playlist” to add this file to playlist.

If you added the music file to playlist, you can select “Playlist” in the Music page to play it. You can also play the recently added music files in the “Playlists” page.

Application

Please acquire a GoogleTM account for the applications. Without a GoogleTM account, the application can only perform functions partially.

Browser

Enter the browser and key-in the keyword in the search-bar to search the item. Select the item in the result list to browse.

Select the URL bar to input new web link to visit that page. Use the virtual keyboard on the screen to input the URL, or plug in the USB keyboard to input the URL.

If you have a GoogleTM account, click the “login” in the home page to use your personal setting.

Calendar

Enter this page and you see the calendar. Your events can be added in the calendar if you login your GoogleTM account here. Press the setup key to prompt the bar with 3 options “Account Setting”, “Refresh” and “Add”.

Account Setting: Select this option to add your account including name and password.

Refresh: Refresh the calendar with Google CalendarTMevent.

Add: Add your personal event to the calendar. If you don’t login your GoogleTM account, then the event can’t be added.

Firmware Upgrade

Copy the firmware file to the root directory of USB Flash Disk and then insert it to the player. Select this function and select “Browse” in the prompt window. Choose “Upgrade” to upgrade the firmware.

Music

Select this option to enter Music page. Please refer to the Music description in the previous section.

Network shares

Select the found share folder in the local network to mount. The mounted folder can be selected as the media source, which can be accessed in the “Video”“Photo”“Music” item in the main menu.

When entering this option, select the folder in the list to mount.

Connect Manually:

If your sharing folder is not in the list, you may want to add it manually. Select this item to input the information to logging the remote PC or NAS. The information includes server address, Share Folder name, User name and password for login.

Sub menu:

Press “Enter” on a mounted folder for 2 seconds and the sub menu will pop up. Select “Unmount” to unmount the folder, “Rescan” to refresh the network list, and “Clear all” to clear the list.

OI File Manager

Select this option to browse the USB storage and SD card. Highlight the “mnt” in the top bar to choose the storage device, for example, “sdcard8” for SD card, “usb81”“usb817” for USB Storage.Select the file on the list to open it. If you want to install the application, you can browse it and open it for installation in this page.

Photo

Select this option to enter Photo page. Please refer to the Photo description in the previous section.

Picasa

Select this option to enter PicasaTM page. Select the icons to access these functions.

My Album: input your Account name and password to login PicasaTM.

Favorite: add users in the list and look their album later.

Search: type in keyword to search it.

Feature: browse and look the pictures.

Picasa Photo Browser

Enter this page and enter the PicasaTM user account to see the album.

Real Time Stock

Enter this page to show the stock quotes and charts. Select and highlight a stock symbol and press “Enter” key to open the web page to see the details and news.

In the stock symbol list, press “Setup” key to show the sub-menu, and select “Setting” to edit the list or “Exit” to exit this function.

In the setting page of Real Time Stock, change the current quote symbol in the list to your quote symbol. If you do not know the quote symbol, click “Search Quote Symbol” and then enter your stock name in the web page to find the symbol.

RSS News Reader

In this function, you can read the latest RSS (Really Simple Syndication) news from web site. You can also add new RSS news web site here.

Select the “Provider” and then move cursor to right to select “Category” to open, and then select the title to open the page. Use the direction key to scroll the page.Press “Return” to previous page.

When reading the RSS page, press “Setup”key to pop up sub-menu. You can select “Bookmarks” to open Bookmark of this player, select “Refresh” to reload the page, select “Add bookmark” to add the page to bookmark, and etc.

Bookmarks: open the bookmark to browse.

Refresh: reload this web page.

Stop: if the page is loading, press it to stop.

Add bookmark: add this page to your bookmark.

More:

Page info: display the page info like title and the URL.

Settings:open the browser options to setup. To reset all the settings, scroll-down to select the option “Reset to default” to apply.

User Define: select the “User Define” in the “Provider” list and “Add” in its category to add new RSS news. In the pop up window, input the display name and RSS URL of new RSS news. When browsing “Provider” and “Category” list, highlight the user-defined category and press “Setup” for the sub- menu, select “Edit” to edit this RSS or “Delete” to delete this RSS.

Settings

Networks controls: configure the Ethernet settings.

Sound: setup the digital sound interface between S/PDIF and HDMI, and format to be LPCM 2ch or digital audio raw data.

Display:setup the parameter including “Brightness”, “Contrast”, “Saturation”, “Hue”, “Over scan adjust”, “CVBS type”. Adjust the bar to change the level of parameter.

Over scan adjust:If the screen seems to be cropped, select this option to adjust the visible area. Adjust the bar for to change the level.

CVBS type:choose NTSC or PAL TV system for A/V output.

Applications:

Unknown sources: check this option to allow theinstallation of non-market applications.

Manage applications:the applications are listed in this page. Select the category to see the applications in “Downloaded”, “Running” and etc. Press “Setup” key, and you can select “Sort by size” to sort the applications. Click one application in the list, to select option including “Force stop”, “Uninstall”, “Clear data”, “Move to SD card”, “Clear cache” and “Clear defaults”.

Privacy: click the button to reset setting to factory default.

Storage: select the storage to unmount the device.

Search:select the parameter for the web-search function.

Language & keyboard:select the input method and setup keyboard parameter.

Date & time:setup the time zone, time format and automatic update.

About:display the system information and Ethernet MAC Address of this player.

Translator

Insert USB keyboard to input text. Select the language to translate, and type in your string, and click “Translate” to translate the text.

Video

Select this option to enter Video page. Please refer to the Video description in the previous section.

Weather Forecast

Select the Country / Location and then select the City to read the current weather and weather forecast. Select “User Define” and “Add” to add new city. In the next page, enter the city name and select “Get Woeid” to get Woeid, and then click “OK” to add the city.
