Dear Parents and Friends:
Welcome to the new Congregation B’nai Torah Religious School program. Most of our classes will be held in our education building this year because we are no longer combined with any other schools.
This year also brings many changes to our educational program. ReligiousSchool each weekend will involve our elementary school students and our sixth (6th) and seventh (7th) graders in a fun and exciting immersion curriculum. This means that each week we will all be learning different aspects of one or two big ideas! Our teachers are pulling out all the stops using text books, songs, dances, art and field trips to immerse our students in each week’s lessons.
Speaking of field trips, our first day of school will be held on Sunday, August 26th, 2007, at the Sanford Zoo where we will have our first Family-Education day. Our day will start at 10:00am, at the Zoo where we will have a great biblical lesson for the whole family. We will conclude our day with lunch at Lorna and Scott Ravede’s home in DeBary. (See the enclosed information sheet for all of the details.)
Another exciting change in our program involves our students attending prayer study and services one Saturday each month. On that weekend there will be no Sunday School
Another big innovation is the establishment of a Jewish High School program for eighth (8th) through twelfth (12th) grades. Our young adult program coordinator, Charles Moskowitz, already has the first three years of
amazing classes ready to launch.
Confirmation will be available to tenth (10th), eleventh (11th) or twelfth (12th) graders who attend the Jewish High School program and also fulfill the Rabbi’s requirements for confirmation students.
Please mail or drop off the registration form at the office (hours from 10:00am until 2:00pm daily (Monday through Friday) or bring it with you to the Zoo on August 26th, or to ReligiousSchool on September 9th.
