Welcome to a new year of Youth and Family ministry at First Lutheran! We have much to celebrate and great things to build on in the coming year. Young people have been growing in their faith through participation in trips and events, such as the “In Jesus Name” high school mission trip and the summer middle school bike trip. We have packaged meals for Food for Kidz and we provided entertainment at the St. Francis Green Fair. We are learning to live our faith right where we live and around the world, and we’re having fun doing it!

All youth and families are invited to Rally Sunday, September 15 when we will kick off the coming year – Sunday School for children age 3 through Grade 12 meets each week at 10:30 a.m. We gather in Stoltz Hall for opening – see you there!

Watch for these opportunities for all in the months ahead:

+  “Followers of Jesus” children’s choir: rehearsals begin Wednesday, September 11 at 3:30 p.m. for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The group will meet through December and learn songs to sing at worship. Families are asked to register separately for this activity so that bus transportation can be arranged. Director of Music, Becky Nelson, directs the choir.

+  Food for Kidz food packaging congregational events: plan to attend mission Sunday mornings and share some time to package nutritious meals for hungry children around the globe. Scheduled dates are Sundays, October 20 and
December 1.

+  Children’s Christmas Program: this annual event is scheduled for Sunday, December 15, plan to be a part of this celebration of Christ’s birth!

Youth Group Opportunities:

Gospel Gang (Grades 3-5): Watch for a variety of opportunities to gather for fun activities. Families are especially encouraged to participate in events for this age group.

Wild & Crazy Saints (Grades 6-8): Lots of fun activities are in the works. The NE MN Synod Middle School Youth Gathering held at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd is a highlight in November. Watch for a fun weekend at Luther Crest Bible Camp too.

Again this year for youth Grades 6-12 is FOCUS + Fixed On Christ Until Sunday +. Beginning on Monday, September 9, at 6:50 a.m., we will meet for breakfast and Bible Study. We will have an every day life-changing experience as we pursue God every day. Youth will receive a devotional book as a gift from the Commission for Youth.

FLY (First Lutheran Youth) meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, September 11 and throughout the school year. Come and bring a friend!
