Conference Cause 2017: Atlanta

2017 will be the PLUS Foundation’s fourteenth annual Conference Cause event. Every year a local philanthropic organization is chosen in the community hosting the PLUS Annual conference. The PLUS Foundation will coordinate a volunteer effort to mobilize the time and talent of PLUS members. Funds will be raised from the membership for the charity. Since the program’s inception over $510,000 has been donated, and hundreds of PLUS members have volunteered.

The following general criteria will apply to the selection of the 2017 Conference Cause beneficiary:

  • The organization will be a free-standing non-profit corporation with a sound reputation and history of accomplishment. New organizations with little experience and minimal administrative capacity, pools of money collected without corporate oversight, or a project that is part of the government are not preferred.
  • The organization will be non-partisan, not closely religiously affiliated, nor discriminate in any way (other than based on need) as to who is eligible for the benefits they administer. We want an organization that nearly everyone, regardless of their personal affiliations and beliefs, will be comfortable supporting.
  • The organization will be required to work with the PLUS Foundation to organize a volunteer component to the project. Volunteerism will be a priority consideration. Meaningful engagement, task accomplishment and involving numerous (40+) members will be important. Because of the constraints of the PLUS conference and travel schedules the window of opportunity for this activity may be very limited. The conference runs November 1 – 3. Ideally, the volunteer event will take place immediately prior to the conference, likely October 31.
  • The organization will support the PLUS Foundation’s fundraising and volunteer recruitment by providing information and images that will help craft a quality message and materials.
  • PLUS Foundation staff will do background research and contact a limited number of organizations for final consideration. The PLUS Foundation Board of Directors will make the final selection.

You are encouraged to submit an organization for consideration, and should complete the form and mail, e-mail or fax it to the address below. You are encouraged to attach a limited amount of helpful information, such as the organization’s promotional brochure, annual report, etc. This form can be completed and saved on your computer.

Please have all recommendations submitted by April 7. Thank you for your consideration!
