  2. Will create a draft TLS Award nomination form and instructions and send to TOC for review by Wednesday January 25, 2017.
  3. Send out the draft new website for review by the RTOC/EPA the week of Jan 23-27, official launch will be Jan 31, 2017. Done 2/14/17

Final remarks from Dennis McLerran, R10 Regional Administrator and Jim Woods, Sr. Tribal Policy Advisor, Update on planning for the 2017 Tribal Environmental Leader’s Summit and the Alaska Forum on the Environment, Open comment period for CIRCLA financial responsibility requirements, Welcomed new NTOC members, Tom Robinson for Alaska Position 1 and Willie Frank for Western WA/Western OR, as well as Dean Adams as the new Oregon RTOC rep., Updates on EPA Transition with new Administration, Traditional Ecological Knowledge work group and the R10 Tribal Trust and Assistance Unit.

Dennis feels good about the work that has been done. Jim Woods has been an excellent partner. Expressed that we couldn't be better poised to have Michelle Pirzadeh and Joyce Kelly bringing our voice to the National level. Has been extremely rewarding, and he appreciates our work tremendously.

  • Tribal Environmental Leader’s Summit
Website is live for registration, notice sent to all tribes via Michelle Davis including call for presenters, agenda is in draft form.
  • AFE
Registration for Billy, Randi and Rick complete, Booth registration complete, Evening Event paid for. Working on securing entertainment or potentially organizing a networking social in lieu of entertainment. Ellanak award nomination letters and applications sent to all tribes via Michelle Davis. Brakout session is scheduled for Wednesday (time). Michelle Pirzadeh and Santina Gay from EPA will be there.
  1. RTOC Policy Analyst Update
RULINGS
  • Financial responsibility requirements for CIRCLA officially in Fed register Jan 11 open for comments until March 19. Webinar scheduled for Jan 30.
  • Requiring the owners of mines to require funds for superfund liabilities in the future. Ensures environmentally safe practices.

  1. EPA Updates
ELECTIONS
  • Welcomed new NTOC members, Tom Robinson, Willie Frank and Dean Adams as the new Oregon rep.
  • Will send the updated member form to AIEO as soon as the Alternates are chosen.
TRANSITION
  • Michelle Pirzadeh will be the Acting RA and Dan Opalksi will be serving as the acting Deputy RA as of 9am Pacific Jan 20, 2017.
  • Acting Administrator for EPA will be Catherine McCabe and Mike Flynn will be the Acting Deputy Administrator for EPA.
  • Transition team for EPA will be sworn in on Saturday January 21, 2017.
TEK WORKGROUP
  • On Jan 5, Mathy Stanislaus issued the final TEK statement from the EPA.
  • Workgroup members will receive a calendar invite for the next meeting within next week.
TTAU JR Herbst
  • FY18 funding will be wrapped up by Jan. 30th
  • Webinar kickoff for ETEPS

  1. Communications Specialist Update
  • Rooms needed for Meeting in March:
RTOC pays for the transportation to and from Seattle plus pay for the hotel and M&I for the 26th-28th. The individuals will then have to cover their perdiem, meaning hotel and M&I, for the 29th-31st. So everyone will have their transportation taken care of by RTOC and then they will have to cover their own perdiem forthe TLS.
