Conestoga PTO March 2, 2017 meeting Minutes
In attendance: Bonnie Martin, Brandy Derr, Emily Noll, Abby Groff, Allison Witmer, Alicia Ressler, Bobbie Sue Hiestand, Debbie Adams, Dee Greenawalt, Val Hoback, Jenny Roberts, Mrs. Graham, Mrs. Baker
- Approval of February meeting minutes
- Treasurer's Report: Income-$290.25. Expenses: $1,945.33 Detailed report available.
- Student/Family Activities
- Movie Night- Emily Noll- Plenty of room in the Pequea cafeteria. Not as many in attendance this year, those in attendance had a great time.
- Dinner at Jakes/Tropical Smoothie: Dee Greenawalt- Busy night at both locations. Will receive a checkmailed to Pequea Elementary by Tropical Smoothie. Jakes will contact PTO in regards to payment.
- Yearbook Update: Bonnie Martin: Order forms will be sent out March 9. PLEASE: NO CASH! Sales will continue for two weeks. Bonnie will distribute forms to the schools. Mrs. Williams will send an email to teachers to send forms home on 3/9.
- Garden Committee: Newsletter sent out. Students can make bird feeders. They will not be displayed atthe schools. Students can bring them to school and show them to their class and then take them home. Bird seed is available in all the school offices for those who need it. Eat a Rainbow pictures are still being sent in. 74 out of 298 students have participated so far. The committee will meet at the end of the month to plan out special activities for the end of year event. Activities will be done whenstudents are not working with their groups. Mrs. Williams has been in contact with the cafeteria at allschools about packed lunches. The PTO will provide teacher lunches that day for teacher appreciation. Buses have been arranged. More information will be announced about a planningmeeting for next year
- Sixth grade graduation: Erin Smith/Leanne Hershey were not in attendance, but Bobbie Sue Hiestandwas able to provide an update. Teachers want graduation in the morning, but discussion is thatparents may not be able to attend. Mrs. Baker will discuss with the teachers. They are waiting to hear
back from the pool to confirm the date and cost (5/31). A lifeguard will donate her time. A request for a donation of hot dogs will be made. A save the date will be sent out as well as a request for contributions. Transportation from the school to the pool will need to be arranged.
- Teacher Appreciation: Will work with the other schools so our teachers will be included. More information to follow when arrangements are made.
- Fundraising:
- Box Tops: Pequea Elementary won the contest and they will have extra gym time. We earned about $1100 for the year. There will be future contests and new ideas will be discussed.
- Gertrude Hawke: 90 students participated and sold a total of $9126.00. The school earns $4500.Top sellers for K-2 and 3-6 sold $837.50 and $557. Top 3 classrooms were Mrs. Fellenbaum, Mrs.Garpstas, and Mrs. Witmer. Delivery will be 3/22 at Pequea Elementary. Pick will be between 3:45and 6:30. Will need 3 to 4 adults to help sort orders. Since we did not meet our goal, we will need to have another fundraiser...possibly another sub sale.
- Teacher's report: Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Witmer say the year is going well and they thank PTO for all the extra time and work they do.
- Principal's Report: Work is continuing on the school and they have made great progress with the renovations. The school is going to be beautiful. A parent has offered to teach a CPR course and some of the teachers have signed up to attend.There will be a cost for materials only.
