C)  Course Description:

Computerized Business Applications is a two-semester course designed to prepare students with an introduction to business applications that are necessary to live and work in a technological society. Emphasis is given to hardware, concepts, and business uses of applications. The business applications covered are word processing, database, spreadsheet, telecommunications, presentation, and Web page design.

E)  Course Policies:

a.  Attendance & tardiness requirements are employed according to school policy. As technology students are working and learning in an atmosphere compared to a workplace environment, the completion of assignments is consistent with workplace deadlines. Therefore, students are expected to meet assignment deadlines. Students will make up all work in the event of their absence according to the school policy as addressed in the school handbook.

b.  It is the responsibility of the student to arrange for make-up work missed due to an absence.

i.  Make-up of a team presentation will consist of the development of an individual presentation from which the student’s grade will be assessed.

ii. In the event of an absence due to a school function, special consideration will be made for presentations.

iii.  Excessive absences will result in zero for productivity grade unless special arrangements are made with the instructor for project work or learning activity.

c.  Class participation is required by participating in group activities and working in a team atmosphere.

d.  Professional behavior and adherence of lab policies are expected at all times.

e.  Lab safety addresses the absence of food and drink while working in the lab. Additionally, all school policies speaking to emergency procedures will be followed to according to the school emergency plan.

f.  Disciplinary actions against academic dishonesty will be adhered to as written in the school handbook.

g.  The instructor according to student learning requirements may add additional assignments.

h.  All students will adhere to the school policies regarding computer and Internet use.
