Salary £22,000 plus up to 3% contributory pension

Job Description:

The Marketing Officer’smain responsibilities are to develop relationships with potential donors of PCs and to implement marketing strategies to increase awareness of Computer Aid’s services,so as to increase donations of PCs, monitors and laptops to the charity. They post holder will also be responsible for updating and editing Computer Aid’s website, conducting social media marketing, SEO, online advertising and putting together e-newsletters.

The Marketing Officer will report to the Director of Marketing and Communicationswho will hold regular supervision sessions to set targets, monitor workload and to effect post holder performance appraisal, training and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Will be responsible for developing a pro-active approach to establish and maintain professional relationships with potential volume PC donors, including public organisations, government bodies and private corporations.

  • Will visit organisations throughout the UK developing relationships to promote the work of Computer Aid and to facilitate donations of computers and related equipment
  • Will attend networking events and exhibit at conferences to promote the services offered by Computer Aid.
  • Will send out direct mail shots to potential hardware donors and will undertake “cold calling” and other methods.
  • Will ensure donors’ contacts on the Computer Aid database are kept up-to-date as well as records of any meetings and telephone calls
  • Will liaise with the PC Donations and Logistics Officer to hand-over donations once an agreement has been signed to enable him/her to plan the logistics of donations of computers.
  • Will cover the work of the PC Donations and Logistics Officer when he/she is out of the office
  • Will edit and update Computer Aid’s website
  • Will undertake Search Engine Optimisation for Computer Aid’s website
  • Will assist with creatingComputer Aid’s e-newsletters
  • Will assist in recruiting and managinginterns.
  • Will be self-servicing in respect of administration.
  • Will undertake any other task which may reasonably be requested by line management.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Essential Qualities:

  • Minimum 1 years marketing experience within a marketing and communications environment
  • Friendly, personable and outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including presentation skills
  • Ability to work efficiently delivering high quality outcomes to tight deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people from all backgrounds and from junior members of staff to Directors and Chief Executives.
  • Ability to establish, develop and manage relationships with key individuals and organisations.
  • Experience of using web publishing tools for creating e-newsletters and/or updating websites
  • Good computer skills including use of email, word-processing, spreadsheets, database packages, DTP and Graphic design skills
  • Excellent team player and willingness both to take direction and use own initiative, as appropriate.
  • Commitment to the values, aims and objectives of Computer Aid International.
  • Ability to travel throughout the UKand work occasional evenings and weekends

Desirable Qualities:

  • A working knowledge of IT equipment and its uses
  • Experience of the not-for-profit sector in the UK or overseas
  • Experience of using social media for marketing
