Scenario

The Compuboard Corporation is a medium-sized manufacturing company located in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. This non-union company has worked hard at incorporating an objective performance review system that provides feedback to the employees. Its goal was to be objective and timely with frequent supervisor review.

Due to outside market conditions, Compuboard has won the bid for a major new contract. This new contract will require the hiring of more workers and thus the need to promote some of the best performers on the manufacturing assembly line to supervisory or management positions. This unit produces circuit boards that are sold to electronic firms. Management wants to be sure that they have been as fair as possible in presenting an objectively based decision to the employees.

Objective

The following employees have been designated as the best performers on the assembly line and pertinent data is provided about their performance. Since the actual number of promotions is currently unknown, you are to rate the employees on the chart at the bottom in the order they are to be promoted (1 = first to be promoted, 7 = last to be promoted). At the conclusion of the team discussion, please fill in the chart with the ratings the team agreed upon.
