Study Committee N°3: Customer Management Meeting Report

Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 12 - 14 March 2008

The fifth meeting of the Customer Management Study Committee was held as part of the first Scientific Committee Meeting held from 12 to 14 March 2008 at Sofitel Hotel , Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso)

This meeting was attended by:

The following agenda was adopted:

  1. Review of Working Groups proceedings
  2. Drafting of final reports
  3. Any other business

1-Review of Working Groups proceedings

At the second meeting of the Study Committee held in Cotonou, the following two working groups were set up to draft reports on themes assigned to us by the Scientific Committee:

  • VRA (Ghana) was appointed as Head of the Group dealing with theme 1 «Strategies for the improvement of Billing-Collection Process».
  • ESKOM (South Africa) was appointed as Head of the Group dealing with theme 2 «Demand Side Management »

1.3 Colloquium

The colloquium on the experiences of the various utilities as regarding the two themes was held in Cape Town, South Africa from 28 to 29 May 2007. The documents of the Colloquium are to be prepared.

2-Drafting of final reports

Given the time left for the Congress and the deadline for submitting the documents to the Scientific Committee, the following decisions were made:

Colloquium held in Cape Town (South Africa)- 28 - 29 May 2007. / Since the SBEE Rapporteur, is new, CIE should prepare the documents of the colloquium / CIE / 30 April 2008

3-Themes Proposed for the 17th Congress

  1. Electricity as a catalyst for sustainable development
  2. Eliminating obstacles to resource pooling to improve access to electricity by African people
