POSITION:GENERAL MANAGER

REPORTS TO:STRIDE BOARD

SALARY:R1 mil plus (Plus Merit Bonus)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

General management and execution of the approved strategy of the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting

Budget presentation and reporting on achievement to the board and board appointed committees.

Prepares and co-ordinates the consolidation of annual budgets.

Monitors business plan implementation, actual expenditure against expense budgets and reports on variances to Board.

Attends to audit queries from the Auditors.

Responsible for all statutory returns.

Prepares all the monthly, quarterly and year end accounts for STRIDE.

Responsible for reconciliation of accounts.

Responsible for VAT returns and compliance

Liaise with the Receiver of Revenue.

Liaise with STRIDE bankers.

Ensure financial adherence to board policies and guidelines.

Cash management and monitoring interest record and bank accounts. (including reconciliations)

Creates, manages and reports against income forecasts.

Personnel Services

Develops and maintains the Personnel Procedures Manual and manages personnel processes, e.g. engagements, resignations, leave applications.

Responsible for salaries - take on / off and adjustments. (eg. medical aid) and compliance with statutes.

Responsible for all statutory returns (e.g. SITE).

Within the defined areas of responsibility

Monitors and controls performance.

Manages performance and development of staff.

Stakeholder relationships

Establishes, manages and grows key stakeholder relationships.

Investments

Invests surplus funds in accordance to board guidlines.

Corporate Governance

Develops and maintains the delegation of authority protocol

Manages shareholders, board, AGM and special meetings

Coordinates and facilitates the company registration process and corresponding legal and contractual deliverables

Manages all legal and contractual requirements

Strategic

Compile the strategic plan for Stride for submission and approval by the Board.

Implement actions plans to ensure the strategy of the company as approved is executed.

Build stakeholder alliances with all key strategic partners.

Manage service level agreements with service provides to ensure a sustainable service delivery by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

B-Comm degree or equivalent

Insurance related qualifications preferable

Minimum 10 years experience in the insurance industry

Minimum 10 years experience in General Management level
