COMPANY PROFILE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
Rodco-Brandt has been producing high quality wood furniture and seating since 1983. In 1987, Rodco-Brandt was awarded its first GSA Contract for furniture and presently holds (3) GSA Contracts. In 1999, Rodco-Brandt was certified through the Small Business Administration as a Small Disadvantaged 8(a), Veteran Owned Company, and at the time was the only manufacturer to be certified in that program. Rodco-Brandt graduated out of the program in 2009.
Rodco-Brandt presently maintains 80 to 100 employees in their 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Mansfield, TX.
Rodco-Brandt was the first company certified by GSA to meet the Department of the Army-UPH Furnishings Program Specifications. The depth of experience in manufacturing affords a unique understanding to meet the requirements of our customers. Our goal has always been to meet our customers’ needs by providing high quality products, on time deliveries and knowledgeable customer service.
Rodco-Brandt’s concern for the environment in their manufacturing process and the selection of their suppliers are described below. Rodco-Brandt saw the need for these practices long before they were required and still maintains standards that exceed what are necessary by local and federal standards.
Certified Wood Practices:
- Rodco-Brandt’s suppliers are certified that they maintain a sustainable Forestry Program and require that these suppliers have procedures for harvesting, tree selection, avoidance of clear cutting and enforce policies that do not disturb the habitat when they are harvesting.
Environmental Practices:
- Rodco-Brandt uses a top coat water born finishing material to reduce the presence of VOC’s. The water born materials practically eliminate all VOC emissions.
- All interior drawer parts are UV finished resulting in a very hard smooth interior surface without snags and finishing odor.
- Rodco-Brandt’s factory utilizes a venting and filtering system in their dust collection procedure that meets and far exceeds that required by the EPA, Rodco-Brandt moved into a new updated facility in 2002 which required them to meet local environmental codes that were more stringent than those mandated by the EPA & other federal agencies. Rodco-Brandt’s dust collection system is designed to recycle the air in the factory, returning the recycled air to the factory and allowing only 50% of the filtered air to enter the atmosphere. The filtration system separates the dust and the chips collecting them in bins within the facility vs. having these particulates go into the environment.
- Rodco-Brandt’s packaging procedure is to wrap the items that need to be protected in shipment with a corrugated/recyclable product vs. full cartoning. This method allows the packaging to be recycled and reduces the amount of corrugated material by 50%. (i.e. less packaging, less impact on the environment)
Special Features:
- Rodco-Brandt uses only plain sliced oak veneers on all of their cabinets. By using the same piece of plain Oak veneers on “side by side” doors the natural patterns of the veneers match and produce a more coordinated, nicer looking cabinet. The veneer matching process is commonly used in “higher end” residential furniture, and is a statement of quality used in the Rodco-Brandt manufacturing process.
- Rodco-Brandt exclusively uses ¾” thick back panels, finished on both sides of all their casegoods requiring back panels. This is not a standard practice in the commercial furniture industry and shows the commitment of using premium components to make a lasting durable product.
SPECIFICATIONS
The following 12 construction points give years of lasting durability by using the best materials and construction techniques available. With the optional ¾” thick back panels offered under each item and the optional heavy duty 2 ¾” wide five knuckle hinges available at no extra cost make all the items comply with the Air Force AETC and the Army-UPH Furnishings Program Specifications (see Construction Point 12).
- All joints are glued, double or triple doweled, mortised or tenoned together.
- The fronts of all case pieces are made out of solid oak (drawer fronts, top moldings, cross rails, stiles, bases, etc., are made from kiln dried solid oak with 5% to 8% moisture content). The following construction styles are available. Standard for the Bar Harbor is a 2.25”W Front Frame, other options are MF=Medium Front Frame, 1.5”W and NF=No Front Frame.
- The case end panels and shelves are made of ¾” oak lumber core. (5 ply oak veneer on solid wood center with 2 cross bands) The panels will not shrink or expand. For solid oak construction including end panels and shelves increase the published prices on case pieces by 14.4%. This construction in combination with the ¾” thick optional back panels increases the warranty to 10 years.
- The tops of all case pieces are covered with matching high pressure laminate. Edges are 3/8” thick solid oak 4 sides. On orders over $100,000 solid surfaces veneer (SSV) is available for any up-charge of $15 per square foot.
- OPTION: Four sided drawers with removable/exchangeable fronts are available. Up-charge for 7.5”W drawer fronts only: to 20”Lg. $.95, 21” to 30” Lg. $1.20, 31” – 36” Lg. $1.40
- Drawer sides and backs are ½” thick 7 or 9 ply laminated or solid hardwood. Drawer bottoms are ¼” plywood. Bottoms larger than 465 square inches are ½” thick plywood.
- An epoxy-coated metal roller drawer slide system guarantees smooth and quiet running with positive in-and-out stop, is standard on all cases. (100 pound capacity rated per drawer, tested under load over 50,000 cycles with good results).
- The drop lid of the wall units is tested to handle up to 175 pounds weight in the open position (250 pounds weight on recessed drop lids). The weight can be placed on the drop lid if the unit is fastened to the wall, otherwise unit may tilt forward.
- All exposed back panels (front view) are ¼” oak plywood. ¾” thick finished back panels are optional, needed to meet the Army and Air Force Specifications, see price list.
- All case pieces including wall units, wardrobes, night stands, entertainment centers, armoires, dressers, chests and desks have adjustable glides.
- Special finishes and pulls are available on large orders at no extra cost. Changes to the design, item sizes and special fabrics can be quoted on orders in excess of $100,000.
- All Rodco-Brandt items with the options available on GSA Contract will meet and/or exceed the Air Force AETC Standards for Construction of Dormitory Furniture and the Department of the Army-UPH Furnishings Program Specifications. Please specify on the order to which specifications the furniture must comply. The warranty for items under these specs is 7 years.
WARRANTY: The warranty covers the item for 5 years from the date of shipment. Said warranty includes replacement of items or parts against manufacturer’s defects due to workmanship and/or materials used. It does not include damage due to abuse or neglect. Written notification is required and appropriate action will be promptly taken by manufacturer.
The Bar Harbor Collection and Southport Collection is available in three different front designs. The Collection comes standard with the bordered fronts as shown in the catalog in Honey Oak (HO) finish. To maximize storage space the items are also available with a medium (MF) or narrow frame (NF) in large orders at no additional charge. Plain fronts, grooved fronts and other drawer front options are available (see catalog for more details).
The distinctive difference in styles is only in the drawer front designs with the different front frame sizes in combination with the finish and hardware used. The overall sizes of the items remain the same. The collection combines solid oak fronts and solid wood interior construction with oak lumber core ends and shelves. The tops of all case pieces up to 62” high are in matching high pressure laminate. Edges are 3/8” thick solid oak on 4 sides (solid wood tops optional). The combination of the best materials and construction techniques gives this group years of lasting durability even in high use settings.
The collection is also available with solid oak ends and shelves for a 14.4% up-charge to the listed price. See back of price list for the details and construction specifications. Optional plywood construction on ends and/or drawer fronts is available on larger orders (cost savings).
The plain fronts (PL), grooved fronts (GR), the medium (MF) or narrow front frames (NF) are available on larger orders, or to match customer’s previous purchases by adding the style suffix to the item number.

All upholstered items are priced in a base fabric “A” grade as listed in the vinyl and fabric selector.
