COMPANY DRIVER HIRE INFORMATION AND POLICIES

Requirements:
Must be 23 years of age.
Must speak English.
Must have 2 years of over the road experience.
Tanker experience is preferred.

Must be flexible with schedule and stay out 1-4 weeks at times, again must be flexible. Flexibility equals more revenue

Must give 10 days notice for days off.
Require and expect 2 weeks notice before resign.
Must have CDL with tanker and hazmat.
Do not have any dedicated routes.

Run all 48 states with the majority of miles being ran in the Midwest and Plains states.

Pay Information:
24% of gross revenue paid weekly.
Pay day is Wednesday approximately 1pm.
Direct deposit will be guaranteed into your account by Friday morning.
$50 DOT no violation bonus.
1% of gross revenue safety bonus paid at end of year.
Last year the average annual income was $56,000.
The average mileage per year was 140,000 miles.
Health Insurance:
Blue Cross Blue Shield major medical plan
They pay 50% you pay 50% up to $1500/person or $3000/family
No Dental
Once per year eye appointment covered
Prescription card $15=generic $45=name brand
Employee cost: Family=$100/wk Employee/Spouse=$70/wk
Employee/Children=$65/wk Employee only=$35
Have a $10,000 life insurance policy at no charge to employee
After 10 yrs. of employment health insurance provided at no charge to you.
New employees have 30 days to enroll.
Open enrollment takes place every April.
Pension Plan:
Use a simple IRA plan administered by Edward Jones.
Company matches up to 3% of what employee puts in.

Company match starts after the completion of one year of employment with the company.

Vacation and Holiday pay:
Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation after completion of one year of employment.
Paid Holidays after one year of employment.
Holidays included: Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, Labor & Memorial Day
Vacation & Holiday pay is at $100.00 per day.
After 5 years of employment will receive an additional week of vacation.
Girton tractors:
Run Peterbilt conventional tractors.
Each driver has a dedicated tractor.
Run Caterpillar and Cummins engines rated at 475 to 550 horsepower.
Tractors are governed at 70 mph.
Use 13, 15 and 18 speed transmissions.
Tractors are equipped with hydraulic PTO’s and air compressors.
Tractors also have Rigmaster APU’s.
No pets are allowed.
No additional equipment is to be added to the tractor.
Tractors are equipped with Qualcomm systems for dispatching.

Tractors are to be kept at Girton terminals when drivers are off duty, can be kept at Clay Center,KS or Pleasant Valley,MO whichever is closer to the driver’s residence.

Girton Trailers:
Company utilizes MC331, DOT307, DOT407 & DOT412 trailers.
Each trailer has a pump mounted on it.
Many of the DOT407 trailers have meters mounted on them.
A lot of the metered trailers are dedicated.
Any damage to the trailer needs to be reported immediately.
Any repair the trailer is in need of must be reported immediately.
Products Transported & Personal Protective Equipment required:
Herbicides: long sleeves, rubber gloves, eye protection.
Oils: rubber gloves, eye protection.
General Chemicals (non-hazmat): rubber gloves, eye protection.
General Chemicals (hazmat): rubber gloves/boots, goggles, chemical suit, face
shield, hard hat.
Tallow: rubber gloves and eye protection.
Liquefied Petroleum products: long sleeves, rubber gloves, eye protection.
Anhydrous Ammonia: long sleeves, rubber gloves, goggles.
Liquid Fertilizers: rubber gloves, eye protection.
When loading or unloading you must be by your truck/trailer at all times.

Please note that you will need to adhere to each terminals loading PPE that will be posted as what they require.
List of PPE that needs to be in each truck are : Flame retardant coveralls, full chemical suit, rubber boots, rubber gloves, hard hat, face shield, goggles, and long
Sleeve shirt.

Dress Code:
Long pants. (absolutely no shorts)
Nice clean shirt with no obscenity(Girton logo shirt preferred).
Leather boots or shoes. (Absolutely no flip flops or sandals)
Log Books and Supporting documents:
Log books & supporting documents must be turned in every week.
Supporting documents include: fuel tickets, tolls, acknowledgement sheet, tickets

and/or roadside inspections, bill of ladings, scale and/or meter tickets, payroll/daily sheet(one for each day) , mileage sheet.

Maximum speed on log sheet not to exceed 5 miles under average speed limit.
Maximum speed shall never exceed 65mph on log sheet.
Girtons run 70 hours of service rule.
Must flag every loading, unloading locations and fuel stops.

All loading & unloading stops must show a minimum of 15 minutes with the exception of liquefied petroleum & Anhydrous Ammonia must show a minimum of 30 minutes while unloading.
All tolls, roadside inspections & bol’s must match the exact time in and out. Tolls and no violation roadside inspections will be reimbursed after they have been audited.
If receive log violation on a DOT roadside inspection will be expected to meet with management to explain violation and will be parked for one day.
After 5 log book violations per year will be terminated.
Need to organize and paperclip each complete run. (no staples please)
For demurrage reimbursement must notify dispatch immediately and completely fill out the acknowledge sheet and have it signed before and after unloading.
Log books and supporting documents must be current and turned into office by Tuesday 4pm to make payroll.
There is a secure box in drivers lounge to drop paperwork.
We have Transflow scanning account with all Pilot, Loves and Bosselmans truck stops. (must drop originals in mail after Transflow)
Keep in mind if wait until Monday to mail paperwork probably won’t make payroll. (can mail in paperwork multiple days example: Wednesday and Friday)

Calling Ahead and Qualcomm Rule:

A mandatory phone call is to be made each time you are loaded to give the customer an approximate ETA and to get the name of person you talked with.
You must Qualcomm this information to dispatch every time you load and keep us updated each day.
Utilize the Qualcomm to communicate with dispatch whenever possible.

Alcohol and Drug policy:
No alcohol or drugs are to be consumed while on duty at anytime.

No alcohol or drugs are to be consumed on or off duty at any loading facility, unloading facility or Girton Terminal (includes Clay Center,KS & Pleasant Valley,MO).
If tested positive for alcohol: less than one year with the company results in immediate dismissal—more than one year with the company results in the employee attending an alcohol program at his/her own expense before returning to work.
No illegal drug use is allowed at any time on or off duty.
If tested positive for illegal drugs: less than one year with the company results in the immediate dismissal—more than one year with the company results in the employee attending a drug abuse program at his/her own expense before returning to work.
The policy for drug and alcohol abuse is after you’ve been thru a program, there will not be a second chance.

Smoking:
All Girton Buildings and offices are smoke free.

Absolutely no smoking outside of your truck at loading and unloading facilities except in designated areas.
If hauling flammable products no smoking permitted near the trailer.
When hauling flammable products all windows must be up when you smoke.
