Role Purpose

1.  To carry out and supervise waste processing and associated operations in order to maximise the throughput of the plant by ensuring the consistent availability of in coming materials, the on going functionality of the Process systems and the export of materials.

2.  To ensure Waste Inputs and Process Outputs are managed and dealt with in compliance with the Environmental Permit conditions and all relevant Planning Environmental and Health & Safety legislation.

3.  To provide day to day supervision, work instruction and control of all staff and associated contractors.

4.  To constantly look at ways to improve the operation of the facility and liaise with all appropriate stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include:

1.  To ensure all staff comply with all Health and Safety and Environmental procedures and policies at all times and is responsible for ensuring that colleagues, customers and all third parties also comply with all applicable rules and procedures

2.  Carry out responsibilities as defined in the companies safety rules and associated procedures

3.  Ensure equipment compliance with Site Management Systems and consent requirements

4.  Supervision of the reception and on site tipping operations

5.  The Supervision of the Process sorting and of wastes into recyclate and residual waste fractions

6.  Supervision of loading operations and inspection and Quality Control of material for transport off site or to secondary storage areas

7.  Supervision to ensure maintenance and cleaning of all allocated plant and equipment

8.  Completion of static and daily plant maintenance and fault records

9.  Supervision of safe operations of all mobile plant; loaders, grabs, tele-handlers and clamp trucks

10. Supervision of safe operation of static plant including screens, shredders, balers and wrappers

11. Co-ordination and management of Materials Recycling Facility staff [including any shift patterns]

12. Co-ordination and support of R&M contractors

13. Inspection of waste on reception and reporting of non-conforming wastes

14. Completion of daily environmental and safety inspections, and stock checks

15. Supervise cleaning of plant and equipment

16. To ensure that daily Housekeeping is to a high standard

17. To be on call and to change working patterns where necessary to support the needs of the business

18. Participating in department training and development and staff appraisals

19. Provide support and cover for colleagues within the MRF Plant where necessary

20. Close liaison with MRF Engineer to ensure that maintenance and operations work together effectively and safely

21. Any reasonable duties at Management request

Qualifications and Experience (preferred)

1.  Qualifications –Current Certificate of Technical Competence in Treatment and Transfer preferred or working towards the award (able to achieve in 6 months)

2.  High level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge

3.  Previous experience within a waste processing driven operation

4.  Good communication skills at all levels both verbally and written

5.  Computer literate in Word documents and Spreadsheets

6.  The ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility during dynamic situations

7.  Completer/Finisher able to deliver results on schedule

8.  Potential for promotion, within the Company
