COMMUNITY SERVICE VOLUNTEER HOURS

Keep a record of volunteer hours and activities on a calendar or chart. Choose whatever works for you, but keep up with your hours. Give information to your unit’s community service chair when called for in the spring.

The complete report should have a cover sheet listing the unit, name and address of contact person, total number of members in unit, total number of members working on community projects, and total number of hours served by members of local unit. Along with the cover sheet should be a 200 word summary or listing of community services the members have provided.

Examples of volunteer activities are listed under the following categories:

EDUCATION: teachers’ assistant, setting up school programs such as a reading program,

CHURCH: choir, pianist/organist, teaching Sunday school, Bible study, cleaning church, committee memberships, etc.

HEALTH: hospital, nursing home or Hospice volunteer, blood donor or working with blood drive, sitting with sick persons, etc...

ORGANIZATIONS: Ruritans, fire departments, rescue squads, ladies auxiliaries, Rotary, Relay for Life, etc.

COMMUNITY: taking neighbor to doctor, running errands for neighbors, preparing food for others, visiting the elderly, organizing benefits, etc.

OTHER: volunteer hours not included in the above categories

WITH OUR YOUTH VOLUNTEER HOURS

Keep a record of hours spent working with youth, the number of youth involved, and the activities. Record on calendar or chart. Give information to your unit’s With Our Youth chair (it may be community service chair) when called for in the spring. Individuals, units, and states can submit With Our Youth reports.

The With Our Youth report should be a 200 word summary. Complete the report with a cover sheet listing the name of unit, name and address of the contact person, total number of members in the local unit, total number of members involved in the project(s), total number of hours served by members of the local unit, and total number of youth served in With Our Youth projects.
