Community Room Rental FAQs

What is the cost?

BASIC:$100 for approximately 3 hours, plus set up time, plus $50 security deposit, which will be returned to you after the key is returned and the room inspected. CASH ONLY, payable when picking up the key. This entitles you to use of the main Community Room space (not the art studio), tables and chairs for adults and children, Duplo table, balls, riding ‘cars’ and other play equipment in evidence as well as our outdoor playground. The Kaboom! Imagination Playground is not included.

INCLUDING KABOOM! There is an additional fee of $75 for one hour’s use of the Kaboom! Imagination Playground (maximum time is 2 hours, at an additional $50 for the extra hour); a trained Play Facilitator will be provided to help during the play period.

What is the Kaboom! Imagination Playground? This incredible apparatus is fun for ages from 2 –12. Giant foam blocks and interlocking pieces provide endless fun and stretch children’s imaginations while letting them be physically active too. Nonotuck is one of few Kaboom! play sites in Western Massachusetts. For more information see: .

The Play Facilitator is a Nonotuck parent or teacher who has received special training on the use of the equipment and on theories of play. The Facilitator must be in the room during Kaboom! play, but is not there to supervise children without the renter in the room.

How do I get into the school? You will need to pick up a key and get an alarm passcode the school day before your rental date.

How do I return the key? Please speak to Director to make arrangements.

How does the alarm work? When you enter the building, the alarm will be buzzing. Type in the code you’ve been given. When you leave the building, be sure that the outside door is closed (ie: don’t let anyone hold it open for you), and then type the ‘exit’ button.

Leave the building and lock the door (turn it to the left).

What if we need to turn on the heat? The Director will show you where the thermostat is located. Hit the ‘up arrow’ to the desired temperature (72 is suggested). Hit the key that says ‘HOLD’. Before you leave the building, hit the key that says “SCHEDULE”.

There are two thermostats in the Community Room. Turn each of them up. After a while, they should warm up. When you leave the Community Room, be sure to turn these thermostats down.

The Community Room is not air-conditioned, but we can provide some fans.

Where are the tables and chairs? Folding tables are in the closet in the classroom across the hall (we will show you) and some adult chairs are there as well. Folding chairs are in the drawers under the stage.

There is one table for children with child-size chairs on the stage which may be brought down to the main area. If you need additional children’s furniture, please let the director know.

What do we have access to? You may use the Community Room and the materials in it. Please do NOT use paint or other highly messy play materials. You may use the outdoor playgrounds; please return any supplies you use to the shed and leave the yard in the same condition you found it in. Please close the gate after you leave.

You may use our kitchen (stove, oven, sinks, dishwasher), but there is no refrigerator space or freezer.

The adult bathroom is through the kitchen. Children’s bathrooms are located near the front door and all the way down the hallway, on the right.

What about the classrooms? You may not use the classrooms or classroom materials. Please do not access them or the office and do not allow children to be unsupervised in the hallway.

What about clean-up? Please leave the space as you found it. You are responsible for taking out your trash and putting away tables and chairs. There is a key to our trash bin. Ask the Director to show you where it is, and be sure to return it to its place. Recycling bins are also available for plastic and glass and paper. We can provide a broom for your use.

What if there is an emergency? For dangerous situations, call 911.

The Director can be reached at 914.643.9758 with any urgent questions.
