Position Title / Community Legal Education Coordinator
Salary Range / $67,200 - $71,100 (full time wage)

Position Status / 22.5 hours a week (3 days or flexible),
Dependant subject to funding.
Position reports to / Principal Solicitor
Primary Responsibilities / Coordinate community legal education for tenants and the professional development program and resources for Tenant Advocates and legal practitioners, and the community sector. This role is responsible for publications, social media, website, stakeholder newsletters and supporting the Principal Solicitor in publicity and media.

Community Legal Education and professional development

  • Coordinate the development, delivery, regular review and appropriate record keeping for education resources for tenants (including fact sheets, kits, education workshops)
  • Coordinate the development, delivery regular review and appropriate record keeping for professional development programs for the community sector.
  • Coordinate the development, delivery, regular review and appropriate record keeping for professional development for Tenant Advocates and lawyers in the Tenancy Network.
  • Re-launch and maintain the Tenant Advocates Online hub of resources.
  • This work requires working closely and effectively with Tenancy WA lawyers who contribute content and sign off legal accuracy of material.

Tenancy Network

  • Convene the Tenancy Network (state-wide network of Tenant Advocates and Lawyers) meetings every 2 months
  • Play a lead role in the delivery of the Annual Tenancy Conference (with external contracted conference organisers)

Publications

  • Maintain website content (with support of external website developer if required)
  • Manage the social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) accounts for Tenancy WA as a resource for outreach, education and law reform advocacy.
  • Deliver regular electronic newsletters for the Tenancy Network, community stakeholders and corporate partners, and as appropriate, tenants.

Administration and Reporting

  • Prepare both internal and external reports as required.
  • Ensure routine evaluation of education resources and workshops
  • Keep records of CLE resources and programs in accordance with Tenancy WA policy and procedures.
  • Assist in tasks shared by all staff
  • Supervise volunteers assisting in CLE and related work.
  • Assist in training of new staff and volunteers when required.

Agency Responsibilities:

  • Participate in team meetings, planning and review activities.
  • Implement policies and procedures and act in accordance with agency values
  • Contribute to the development of the agency
  • Carry out other duties, consistent with your skills, as directed by the Executive Manager and/or Principal Solicitor.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of social justice and human rights
  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experienced and capacity to develop and deliver high quality, effective training and education materials
  • Excellent organisational skills, with capacity to plan work, manage timelines, coordinate contributions and deliver on high quality outcomes on time.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience and capacity to deliver high quality communications materials, to develop content for website, social media, newsletters to a variety of targeted audiences.
  • Experience working with legal concepts, or demonstrated capacity to work with complex concepts and willingto learn.
  • Current valid Police Clearance

Desirable:

  • Events management experience is desirable
  • Media or publicity experience is desirable
  • Desktop publishing skills for layout of basic materials in accordance with brand guidelines, creation of social media content.
